Do you store your glasses and mugs upside down or rightside up?

Depends on the type. Pint glasses and heavier weight glasses (non-fragile rims) go upside down. More fragile glasses (juice glasses and high ball glasses) go right side up. Mugs hang on mug trees.

They're all upside down, doesn't matter the kind. I'm a bit OCD about my dishes.lol

I put all of mine upside down. My big thing with that is we live in the south, and unlike other parts of the country, bugs like cockroaches occasionally making it into your home are just a part of life, not a reflection of your housekeeping. I can't stand the idea of something having crawled around in my cups before I use them so I store them upside down.

All upside down. I have never seen them any other way.

ooh, that is lovely.... okay, the one advantage to having to deal with so much snow for part of the year is no cockroaces!

Rightside up

I worry about the germs on my shelf getting on the rim of the glass/mug

We don't have pests...but if we did I would do upside down for sure!

If I had to worry about bugs I would so reconsider...but I always, always store them right side up. The rims are just not made to support that weight on a regular basis, and I had problems with chipping rims when I used to store them upside down. Of course I was living with my cousin and his ex who were hard on EVERYTHING...but they only ever chipped the rims. It stopped when I switched the glasses. Never again.

Always right side up. I feel that they need to "breathe" and not get any stale smell inside from being stored upside down.

Glasses upside-down; mugs right-side-up. I have no idea why, though.

Upside down.

Mine are right-side-up. But you gotta consider that we don't have that many, and they mostly all get used during a typical day, and I put clean ones away behind the ones already in there. So they're not really "stored" for very long at all.

Yeah, me too.

I said upside down, because that's how I personally prefer to store them, but should have said "other" because some are upside down, some are right-side up, and there's no rhyme or reason to it. DH mostly does the dishes.

Upside down, keeps the dust out! (And any other little critters...)
Upside down keeps the dust out and makes it easier to put away and get out a glass without touching the rim, where people will put their mouths.

Rightside up, although a lot of it will depend on who unloads the dishwasher. I'm the one that cleans the shelf, I know how yucky it can get. I don't want the rim of my glass touching that.

Me, too. My mom was the one who told me about this and actually demonstrated by leaving a few glasses upside down for a while. They got a musty smell. I guess if you're using them often, it's not a problem.

Anything that gets the shelf yucky is also going to get in the glasses if they are right sid eup.
