I was reading a book to my son this evening. It's called "Let's Go Swimming with Mr. Sillypants". At the begining Mr. S signs up for swimming lessons. On the way home he starts to worry about them and then decides not to go after all. Right before bed, as he is falling asleep he says, " I hope I'm not being a sissy about this". I don't want to read that. I really want to black that part out and fill in a different word or something.
I try to leave a lot of stuff that I don't really like, but I'm very against someone calling someone else a "sissy" and I don't want my kids to think that way. It just isn't nice or helpful.

Any ideas as to what I could change it to?

How about just using "silly" as in, "I hope I'm not being silly about this", since he's Mr. Sillypants. I haven't read the book, but I hope it has some redeeming qualities.

He has a silly dream about swimming as a fish and when he wakes up he decides he'll be ok to go to the lessons afterall. Overall, it's ok except for that one page. He has fears about going (lists off a few on his way home) but decides to try anyway and has fun.

Silly would be easy to write in there. I think I'll use that. Thanks!
