So You Think You Can Dance starts Thurs., May 22nd!! - Page 3

i am so excited! this is my favorite show...i wish they would put it on as often as American Idol. it's much better, imho. the level of talent is much higher on SYTYCD. can't wait till we get to the competition and see some of this years choreography.
last year Wade Robson, Mia Michaels and Shane Sparks did some amazing stuff. i especially enjoy seeing the "video" choreographers do stuff and get some credit for their amazing choreography.
but Mary Murphy scares the hell out of me. she is like Marie Osmond on crack. am i right?

I did prefer his audition from last year to this year's.

The Italian drove me crazy. He so doesn't get it.

I can't help but compare everyone to last year's dancers. I wasn't impressed with the ballroom dancers as Pasha and Anya's audition from last year was so brilliant.

they never really highlight the dancers who actually make it to the competition in these first few episodes. it's almost a guarantee that 80% of the people they will be focusing on in the Vegas audition will NOT make the show. they don't want to give away all the goods,yk? i've noticed that the last 3 years. maybe one or two of the people they will focus on will make it, but the rest, nope. that's my prediction.
so the fact the the people they have shown so far aren't quite so good is probably because they won't be staying.

and the italian was hi-ilarious. i loved his open shirt. all he needed was some oil and chains.

OK, Cat isn't that bad. I actually like her during the auditions, but sometimes I find her a little annoying during the regular competition.

I am totally in love with that song! Every time I play it, DH gives me a "What the...???" look. I think it's amazing.
Thanks for the info! Yeah, I like the song, too. It's crazy.

Another one of Wade's dances that I LOVED and can't believe I forgot about...the hummingbird dance with Hawk and the redhead?...AMAZING!!

: All of it, including Mary being Marie Osmond on crack! EEKS!

Yeah, the last audition in LA, the popper, was incredible!! I hope he can handle some ballroom stuff.

I LOVE the soccar chick...ohhhh chills!

So those ballroom dancers did Anya and Pasha's EXACT audition, song and all...isn't that kinda wierd?
Maybe I'm the only one who noticed, seeing as I watched Panya's auditon (ahem) several couple lots of times

She was SO fun to watch. She just looked like she was flinging joy everywhere!

I'm glad Twitch is headed to Vegas this year, I liked him last year. I Hok though, so I was rooting for him, but I'm glad Twitch came back.

The Italian was killing me!! I couldn't believe he did the lick-nipple move - with sincerity. The popper did it too, but it was SO different - tongue in cheek as opposed to "THIS is how sexxxxxy I am!" Maybe I'm just jealous because he was too beautiful?

I thought that was the song Anya and Pasha used, but I didn't realize it was the exact dance. Yeah, that's strange.

I liked the soccer chick's dancing too, but am I the only one that was bothered by her pre-interview? Her talking about getting yellow cards and hitting other girls while on the field. She seemed so proud of it. : I understand she's passionate about whatever she does, but come on now. I guess I don't like violence being portrayed as acceptable.

Hmmm... I didn't hear her say that. I saw a clip of her soccer playing, and some of her interview, but I guess I missed bits of it. (Watching with four kiddos around will do that to you.)

The ballroom couple - I think the girl was way stronger than they guy... I think she should go through but not him.

Watched it again last night. It was the repeat show from last week and I am glad it was on b/c I missed the last dance. Wow, the last dancer was just amazing. He was really good.

Anybody watch the boring auditions today?

I thought it was pretty good! Cat was a tiny bit likeable last night, too. I agree, I bet they're not focusing on those who will even be in the top 20- we'll see enough of them in the weeks to come. Although so far there haven't been any really memorable hilarious ones like there have been in the past. I keep thinking of that woman in the sweaty leotard!

Nigel is very fake with how he picks fights with people for no apparent reason- it's strange! Like how Mary and Nigel were yelling at the guy a the end, telling him to leave and get out, and he WAS leaving, calmly!

Yeah, it's kinda disappointing when they ZOOM through some dancers who make it to Vegas, and you know they're probably top 20 hopefuls.

I agree, a lot of just bad auditions this season. More sad than hilarious. It's really surprising to me that some people are truly that far removed from reality.

And yeah, I noticed that about Nigel/Mary, too. I think they get a bit rude with laughing and dragging out the negative critiques. IMO, they don't need to do that to make the program good. The dancing alone makes it awesome.

Love this show!

Love it!!

I really like the stripper club DJ and the guy from last night whose mom died. I really felt them when they were dancing.

Cat is always pretty cool with the auditions but something happens to her during the show and she's just downright intolerable.

Audititons are almost over...next week is it, right? Then on to the meat of the competition! I love the auditions for the most part, but sometimes they just get annoying. I know they don't show many clips of those who make it to Vegas, but wading thru the clips and scary auditions, I caught a few glimpses of real talent! I can't wait to see how the competition goes!
There is some good stuff. I didn't see as many ballroom dancers as in past seasons.

I've only watched last week's so far. Will watch yesterday's episode tonight or this weekend.

Just subbing for now.

I can't wait for the regular competition part, but I like watching the auditions, too. It's amazing how many people have no clue that they suck!

I wish they had shown more ballroom dancers, but I'm glad they showcased the amazing poppers. I am blown away by some of their talent.

I really liked the cutie-patootie (grrr Mary, but it's true!) with the reddish hair who is the daughter of the famous choreographer. She was fabulous!

However, does it seem like a lot of the GOOD dancers (especially the female ones, doing modern) are doing a lot of the same moves? I can't describe the move, but a sort of bowing down with your arms hunched forward, like you don't have control of your arms? It's a fine move, and graceful when done well, but it seemed like EVERY OTHER MOVE that all the good ones were doing! It got annoying. I like the turns, jumps and nice lines, more than awkward arm moves.
