Argh!!

So I recently knit a really cute purple butterfly wash cloth...for my daughter.

My DH told his mom that I had knit something for her for mother's day. I hadn't. I had intended to send her a card, just like I was doing for my own mom/stepmom.

Well, MIL is the type of person that if you tell her she's getting a package, she darn well better have gotten it yesterday because she's going to call and harass you til she gets it, and if you try to explain that DH made a mistake, and the package was never intended for her in the first place, she'll go all pouty and call your BIL and tell him that you're a horrible mean petty person and you're the reason your DH is still living in Germany and the army has nothing to do with it, it's just your evil desire to keep DH away from MIL. Yes, there's drama.

So I ended up buying a nice bar of scented French soap and packing it with my cute butterfly washcloth and mailed it to her. She got it on Friday. DH called her yesterday and asked if she liked it. "Oh yeah, the soap is really nice."

Well, gee, then give DD her freaking washcloth back!!!!

I don't know what irritates me more - the fact that DH backed me into having to give away this cute little wash cloth, or the fact that MIL doesn't even appreciate it when DD would have.

On the bright side, I now have a perfect guilt trip for DH - "Well, I HAVE to buy this yarn, I need it to replace the wash cloth I made for DD but ended up giving to MIL instead."

Sorry about dd washcloth. Interested in picts, do you have any.

BTW it was bery self-less of you and dd to give up a hand-knit in this situation!
