Anyone have cork flooring in kitchen?

We just moved and are putting flooring in. My BIL does ceramic tiles and he's doing our bathroom and a big kitchen/dining/living area. I'm thinking of putting cork in just the small kitchen area, between the counter and stove/fridge. The cost isn't an issue, but I'd like to hear from anyone who's had it in their kitchen. How well does it hold up? How does it handle lots of spills? My kids are in the kitchen a lot.

I would really, really like to install cork flooring in the kitchen and the basement. Planks perhaps?

Dh recently visited a business that installed cork flooring in the late '90s. He said it looked brand new.

Interested to hear from people who have cork floor in their homes.

Only have a second to post--but we have cork in our kitchen and I LOVE IT. Let's see, it's been about 4 years? It's a lightish color. Soft underfoot. The slight patternin g in the cork means it never LOOKS dirty, LOL. So it doesn't drive me crazy when I haven't cleaned like I should. Very forgiving. And when you drop something it doesn't shatter. Have a 2 yo and it's a great floor to stand up to her. Don't have dogs tho.

Don't know whether all cork is the same/created equal. I forget what brand our is--but I do know that I special ordered it from a company in Quebec (we are in canada) reather than getting through a chain store. If I can get time today I'll look it up and come back and post.

But-- we LOVE our cork in the kitchen!!

How do you clean it? Wet mop or vacuum?

We have cork too and love it. It is holding up very well. Comfy to stand on for long periods of time, stuff doesn't shatter when you drop it and it looks nice. The manufacturer says not to leave standing puddles or it will warp but we had a leaky fridge and it held up fine.

My DS and DIL have cork through their house, and it's been down about 15 years and still looks like brand new. Whoever put it in, must have put a really good finish on it, because it's never been re-treated in those 15 years at all.
It is soft, quiet, kind on the legs, never shows the dirt, and they have 3 little kids and live on a farm. She only damp mops it, after a vacuum. I love it.

Is there a difference between cork and cork laminate flooring? I had a sample of the cork laminate (lock together planks) that I loved. Anyone know about these?

That's the kind I saw in person (the cork laminate) too. I'd be interested to know the brands/sources (if anyone has them) for the cork...
