my mother's day gift - not natural

My husband bought me a gift basket full of creams, shampoo and body products full of stuff I really don't want to use on my skin. There is methyl paraben and sodium lauryl sulfate in the products.

Do I just go ahead and use them? Hide them? I don't want to hurt his feelings. I know he just wasn't thinking when he bought the basket at a fund raiser.

ooh- that's a bummer.. I would either explain to him why you don't want to use it so he'll know for next time, or maybe try to secretly sell the stuff on-line and then buy yourself something you really want. if he's anything like my husband, he'll already have forgotten what he got for you so it's not like he'll be looking to see you use it or anything.

Well, I wouldn't be to afraid to hurt his feelings since it might be questionable as to how much thought he put into your gift. Was it merely a convenience to have this basket at a fundraiser or did he actually plan to buy you that? If there wasn't much thought put into it in the first place, then just gently explaining the truth shouldn't be a problem for him.
Don't get me wrong. I'm not saying he's an inconsiderate dh or something (since I'm rereading this and considering how my post might sound). Its just that you're putting a lot of thought into his feelings. And maybe its just not that big of a deal to him. Kwim? Sorry if this is coming out wrong...

put them away. If he asks just say...there were ingredients in the products that you are leery about.
