Accupunture Induction timing?

When should I get induction acupuncture??

I do not want to wait until the day before 42. My Ob will not induce me because I am VBAC. She would just schedule. Her theory on acu is that for some women it induces right away but for others it just makes for a "nicer labor" - her words.

Anyone done it? When do you think I should try it? Soonish? Maybe th/fr?

I don't want her to come before she's ready but I don't want to be sectioned
I am due by the wheel on the 15th...

whatcha think?

Check with your acupuncturist, they should know.

I was actually on the phone with her when you were typing
I made a penciled in appointment for Monday. After a NST and an OB appt.

Just wondering on the BTDT front....

Keep me posted on this. I was chatting with my doula last week (I'm 39 wks, 1 day) and she said if I go over my due date we can discuss acupuncture. I'm having a hospital birth though, so there will be pressure to induce the nanosecond that my due date passes ...

Good luck!

I've had two acupuncture appointments for induction in the last week, I'm now 41+4. The only thing it did was make the baby SUPER active for a few hours.

Hope it works better for you...

I just talked to my acupuncturist about this last week. In her experience, inducing with acupuncture is almost never an immediate induction, unless your body is already ready to go. She said that she often gets calls from women 41 weeks and trying to avoid a medical induction, and by that point she feels like it's already too late. She believes that it's best to go in several times in the weeks before your due date (ie starting 37 or 38 weeks) to help ramp up your body.

Yeah when I spoke to mine, she said something similar. Except she has seen it work quickly but that's not common.

She says it can happen that things start to happen anywhere between 3 hours and 3 days. And she wouldn't start needling until after due dates.

Anyone else out there have it done?

Sorry. I also just realized this is a DDC, didn't mean to barge in.

My sister had it done 12 days after her due date with my niece. She'd been going to acupuncture throughout her pregnancy for morning sickness and anxiety. When she had the induction done, her mucus plug fell out an hour or so later, she went into labor that night and had my niece 36 hours later.

I've heard it takes a while to work and so I'd say go ahead and get started...it won't put you in labor if you and baby aren't ready.

I talked to my acupuncturist about this today and she thinks it's best to start at 39 weeks.
