why CAN'T the pigeon drive the bus?

DS was very persistent last night in asking why the pigeon can't drive the bus. I told him because the pigeon did not go to driving school, does not have a driver's license, and probably doesn't have insurance either.

DS: But what if he goes to driving school, and gets his license, and gets insurance?
Me: Well I don't know, let's ask your dad.
DH: Because his legs aren't long enough to reach the pedals!

Just wondering who else's LOs love this book as much as our DS does...it's so funny.

I figure if he wouldn't have had the tantrum, then maybe eventually he would've gotten to drive the bus.

But after a tantrum?

My ds loves that book! We were reading it every night for months before he switched to Sneetches.

My dd didn't read that one, but she LOVED the Pigeon Finds a Hot Dog. I had to read it at least 3x before she went to sleep EVERY SINGLE Night. We loved Mo Willems.

I love the pigeon books. They are great to read with a group of kids like at a library storytime or preschool. It can be very interactive.

Our household went through a stage of telling the pigeon yes instead of no.

"Yes, you can drive the bus." [Pretend to drive book around the room as the pigeon, careening into things]

next page

"Again? Okay, I guess..." [Repeat careen]

Burns off lots of energy that way!

I was a library teacher and I am dead set against that pigeon driving the bus. And my preschoolers backed me up on this.

I just told my DS that the pigeon doesn't have the hands necessary to hold the steering wheel . We love all of the Pigeon books around here!

I love those books! I have a younger sister and I got them for her and she loves them. She has Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus, the hot dog one and Don't Let the Pigeon Stay Up Late. They are so funny!

This was what my mom told DD!

Those are silly books!

The pigeon has been staying up late a lot at my house lately, too. Also, we got _The Pigeon Wants a Puppy_ from the library.

One of the reasons my dd likes _The Pigeon Stays Up Late_ so much is because she's noticed that the pigeon has a knuffle bunny. We need to get _Knuffle Bunny Too_.
