brain fart, wanna help?

So i swatched and i was getting 18 st to four inches and gauge is 17 st to 4 in. Do i go up or down a needle size to get gauge? And why am i brain farting on this, i've been knitting for a year and a half

Thanks! That is what i thought, but the kids are a tad distracting. Glad to know i am not alone

Go up a needle size. Smaller needles = more spi, bigger needles = fewer spi. This totally confuses me when I'm trying to figure out my gauge, but it seems perfectly clear when it's someone else's.

You have no idea how many pairs of picky pants I have that I just picked a yarn and went to town assuming they'd fit. Luckily they have.

That's the great thing about baby clothes...they'll fit eventually, right? Especially shorts/pants -- love that drawstring!

My first knitting project was the tiny birds organics free longies pattern. To this day I don't know what the gauge was supposed to be. I grabbed the needles she said & a worsted weight wool & went to town. They fit like leggings, but all 3 of my lil goobers have worn them & they work great! lol
