Weight thread

I have been so preoccupied with my weight during this pregnancy. I'm a very petite 4'11" and have always been underweight, despite having a healthy appetite and exercising well. I was going pretty good in the pregnancy, and then got hit with the gastritis and food allergies and got incredibly depressed about food. I asked my MW to weigh me but not tell me because I was afraid of getting even more neurotic about it. Well I got FANTASTIC news today. My MW is THRILLED with how much weight I've put on, especially with all my dietary problems.

I've gained 30lbs!!! I started at 104, and now I'm a whopping 132!

I know it sounds silly, but I'm so happy, and hoping to keep some of it on after the pg. This is a HUGE accomplishment for me, and it helps alleviate lots of my fears about this baby being "too small" or unhealthy or whatever.

So good, bad, ugly, what are YOUR weight challenges/triumphs? Pre- or post-partum?

I think the last time I weighed myself while pg was about 3 weeks before the birth, and I was 209 lb (up from 157). I'm 5'9" and really am big boned . So a gain of 52 lbs, and I ate like a pig those last few weeks. I figure by the time I gave birth I'd probably gained around 60 lbs total (same as with dd1 ).

I weighed myself today, and 11 days post-partum I'm down to 189 lb, so a 20+ lb weight loss already (only 8 lb 4 oz of that was baby ). I know I was carrying a lot of water weight at the end because my legs and ankles were swollen, and I peed a TON in the days following the birth.

Just 40 more pounds to go ...

I started out fluffy, so my accomplishment is that I weigh less now than I did when I got pregnant and I *STILL* have a baby who is growing right on track. I also have not denied myself anything or dieted in any way. Here is to hoping that once I have my baby I can keep off the weight I will lose having her and continue to lose until I am at a healthier weight.

Well I started out at 125 i am up to 164 so I have gained almost forty pounds. I cant wait untill I can excersize and get slim again. oh and I am 5'7" havent struggled with my weight before but who knows after this baby pregnancy can do crazy things to ya.

I gained 60 pounds with my last DS, so my *accomplishment* is that I'm only 3 days shy of 40 weeks and have kept my gain down to 35 pounds.....not a big deal for most women since that is supposedly a normal weight gain, but it means a lot to me!

:

I gained almost 60 with DD, and I'll be at about 40 this time. I'm happy with that!
I put on about 35 pounds with this one, 42 with my DD. So I'm quite happy with that especially since I'm now 41+4 and have been eating ice cream nightly.

Forgot to say that my 20+ lb loss came while eating chocolate cake every night for a week .

I started out 209. I currently am at 212. It's obvious I've lost weight in places like my face and arms. Most of it can be attributed to really bad morning sickness, some stomach flus and a touchy digestive system this pregnancy. With DD I gained 25.

I have not weighed myself all pregnancy. I followed my weight last pregnancy (I gained about 28 pounds) and it drove me insane, so I decided not to this time. I'll probably weigh again when I'm ready to start losing weight a few months after baby is born.

Yesterday my mother asked me how much weight I had gained because I looked like I had lost weight in my face, but I have no idea.

Sara, that's awesome! I'm right there with you. I've had trouble putting on weight my entire life. I'm 5'4" and usually weight 115lbs and I eat like a horse, not pregnant.

My goal is to VERY slowly/healthy lose weight after pregnancy. I want to have some meat, as with all my previous I go from meaty to skinnier than when I was in high school! Trying to keep some of this meat on

I've never had trouble putting on weight, but I've never had weight issues period, thanks to my dad's side of the family (the ONLY good thing I got LOL). With DD I wasn't really concerned- gained 42 lbs eating whatever and exercising whenever, and I lost most of it immediately and was 5 lbs below my pre-pg weight by about 5 months PP (but only but a few lbs).

This time my concern has been that I'd be one of the unfortunate ones who cannot lose the weight easily in subsequent pregnancies. I really tried to gain less, and while I'm only at a 35 lb gain- so 7 lbs less than last time- I fear it's not enough to make a difference in the outcome. I'm not "small", but I'm 5'8.5" and around 140 when not pg, and have always been very slender. I struggle a lot with body image (don't know why, honestly, because I've never found a cause for it, but I do...and I have a really rough time with it) and it scares me to think of having to really "deal" with weight for the first time in my life.

Okay, I always feel so vain after talking about this stuff, especially since pregnancy is such a legitimate reason to gain and a baby is worth EVERYTHING, especially after the trials we've gone through to get ours. But I suppose I can thank society for the way I feel about weight, huh? It's like, it doesn't matter how beautiful and natural pregnancy weight gain is...if you don't lose it all and have a within the first 6 weeks (okay, maybe the first few months), you're fat and ugly or something.

I tend to gain about 20 lbs in pregnancy. I've not weighed myself this pegnancy but I am guessing I am on track for the same....maybe 25 lbs?

I need to lose about 10 - 20 lbs after baby's birth because I came into this pregnancy overweight by about that much.

ugh. I got weighed at the BC today (one week PP) and I weighed 173- I think I was 191 or so right before having the baby. I was 135 or so before I got pregnant. I had a huge placenta and a 9 pound baby so I thought I would have lost more weight just from that alone. I need to start walking with the baby when I start feeling more like my normal self 'down there.'

Congrats on your weight gain Sara!

I wasn't weighing myself because I tend to obsess, but I started to get paranoid that the baby was too small after I measured 36cm for the last three appointments in a row, and I had people asking how many months I have left.

I started at a normal weight, and I've gained 30lbs, so I think all's well. We'll see how weight loss goes after the baby, but I'm not too worried about it. I'm sure it'll take a bit of effort, but, at least for now, I'm not feeling any pressure to 'snap back' right away.

Congrats on the weight gain!!!

I put on 50pds with my DS and this time (@40 wks today) I've put on 22 so far. I have been way better this time around with my food choices and I have had way less of an appetite so it's been a gradual weight gain. I'm pretty pleased but at the same time I have 20+ pds to lose after the initial 22 pd loss of baby weight. UGH. Oh well.

I started at 180 and a week ago was up to 219, so 40 pounds gained. Which is excellent considering I'm having twins and my normal gain is 15 pounds. I exceeded my goal of gaining 30!!!

I expect I'll lose it all fairly quickly making milk for two.
