Can you check yourself & see if you feel a head?

If you don't want to do a vaginal check you can do one of two things: Find the bump on the top of your belly and push down on it. If you feel the whole body pressing down on your cervix/pelvis, then baby is head down. You can also try to wiggle the bump from side to side and if the whole body goes with it, baby is head down. Other thing to try is while lying try to feel if can feel a round head (or part of if, depending on how much baby is engaged) right above your pubic bone. It works best to do this while lying down, as your tummy will be relaxed.

Hugs to you! You have been through so much!

Oh mama, I hope babe is head down for you! I agree about laying down, checking to see if you can feel for the head. :

Thanks for the replies ladies.

Had my appt yesterday and he IS head down...actually in perfect launch position...thank GOD!!!!!

They sent me in for another biophysical u/s since I am now 41 weeks as of today...he is head down, BIG, and happy...tech says about 9 lbs...honesty I don't believe them because I am so small and really have not gained that much weight and he measures fine...but I guess we will see.

Anywho...his heart rate is fine..he is practice breathing and practice suckling and playing with his feet and is just happy as pie in there...in fact he fell asleep during the u/s and refused to wake back up. Not making any motions to move out anytime soon. He must have missed his eviction notice.

Glad he's head down!!

On the size....you never know...ultrasound can be off but with my first I gained 19 pds, I'm on the smaller side and had a 9 pd 2 0z baby! It's always interesting to see how big they really are!

Well here's a question...did that size discourage your child from coming out? This one seems to be stuck and loving it!

I was told before it can be off 2 lbs smaller or larger...the tech yesterday said no...only about 6 oz.

Had a doc (resident) do an u/s on me last week and said 7-7.5 lbs...everybody has their own idea...

I am also wondering...if he is SOOOOO big...how come I did not feel him when I got him flipped head down? That should have been pretty prominent...but I guess I need to give up guessing with this kid...he has a mind of his own already!

I very much believe that our bodies are designed to grow the just right sized baby. I'm considered petite & grow em big myself. In fact I've gained about 33lbs and think this baby will be around 10-10.5lbs

I don't think the techs/docs are very accurate when it comes to guessing size. And as hard as it is (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!), your baby will come at just the right time.
