Terrible insomnia....

This is nuts...I went from sleeping wonderfully to being awake for half the night. I'm so tired I'm a mess!

I started taking Floradix cal/mag months ago and started sleeping better than I have before I was pg. I'm still taking it but the last 4 days or so I go to bed and am still awake 3 hours later! I even tried Benadryl the last couple of nights but I still lay there awake for hours.

I don't drink caffeine much at all, so that's not it. Could my hormones suddenly be that out of whack?

No advice, just lots of s. Sleep deprivation sucks (says one tired mama of a gassy newborn ...).

A similar thing started happening to me recently, and I've found that I am able to get some sleep on the couch with the TV on or with music playing, something about the change of scenery seems to have helped some. Went back to the bedroom last night and again couldn't sleep at all until I came out onto the couch. Chamomile tea seems to be helping me a little too, and napping during the day if you can manage it.

Hope you get some sleep soon.

Thanks ladies.

I feel bad for my boys mostly since when I'm tired I'm a bear. In general if I get over tired, when not pg, it's not pretty. Combined with being pregnant it's a little worse because I already have a lack of energy.

I just took a long hot shower which was wonderful and could have fallen asleep but I'm off to my OB appt.

I do get to nap sometimes during the day, but I wake up more tired and grumpy than I was before I napped! I'm going to try and sneak one in after my appt if it doesn't get too late.

Thanks for the change of scenery suggestion, I just might try the couch tonight.

Hope both of you get sleep soon too!

I woke up last night at 3am like someone had set off an alarm- wide awake for 2 1/2 hours, finally feel asleep on the couch only to be awakened by DS who wanted to know where I had gone to.

I know what you mean about being a grump when tired. I had zero patience for DS today. Luckily my mother offered to take him to the park while I hang out at home. I'm going to try to squeeze a nap in while they're gone.

I did this consistently for the last month with DD and I'm doing it again this time too. It stinks!! I keep hoping I'll wake up to labor but no such luck!!

My mw told me that a banana for potassium right before bedtime and valerium would help. Boy, does it!

I'm guessing Sara means valerian.

The good news is, my insomnia is gone. The bad news is, the baby doesn't care .
