Who here is going to VBAC?

DS was an unnecessary c-section due to an impatient midwife (induced 41w6d -3 station 6cm and it was 6pm on a Sunday night and she wanted to go home... ). I found better ones this time and am planning on having a VBAC. Anyone else?

Planning a UBAC right now, maybe a HBAC later, depending on how confident I feel. Hoping for a UBAC, though.

My problem came that I went into transition at 9-10cm and they tried to get me to push then. I pushed for an hour and a half, throwing up and psychotic and not ready. I hadn't had a single urge to push when I finally collapsed from exhaustion and tired of being berated that I "wasn't trying". I had my first urge to push right before the spinal went in. Lilly was posterior with a huge head that wasn't molding down, but I still think that another two hours of rest and she would have come. Also, if the idiots had told me the bed broke down so I didn't have to squat with no support at all (DH couldn't figure out how to help and I wasn't verbal). I also felt something was 'wrong'. It was a strong feeling, like there was something really wrong being communicated to me by my body, so there's a chance it was necessary, but there's also the chance that I was just too exhausted and her head was breaking my tailbone (it was messed up for about a year after).

Gosh, it so sucks to get a bad midwife! I'm so sorry that happened to you!

This will be my 2nd VBAC. My first was a beautiful experience. You can do it! If you have a local ICAN (International Cesarean Awareness Network) chapter to attend, I would really recommend it. I attended during my pregnancy with my VBAC baby and found it to be a tremendous support to me and such a great place of information!

That is my plan! I was 100% confident I would VBAC the pregnancy I lost (well, I did, I suppose) but now I'm going to accept the fetal monitoring and such, so I know in reality that the chance of another C is high. What is most important to me is going into labor on my own and laboring for as long as I can. If that ends in a vaginal delivery, then wahoo!!!

Sign me up. It might be a challenge to find a provider with my previous history. I am going to grill my current provider on my chances AFTER I have the u/s in June. I don't think any OB in the state will vbac me if I am having twins again. No midwife will touch me period. Wishing for a happy singleton HBAC.

I definitely want an HBAC.

Looking back I really think my first c/s was uncesseary. They played the 'your pelvis is too small' card after 2 hrs of pushing, but I really don't think that's true. I think the baby just wasnt ready yet (they induced me due to low amniotic fluid).

Planning a VBAC here. Not sure if I want to try to go to The Farm or if I can get a cool ob in town. We have a lot of c/s-happy drs in Fbx here, which is annoying. My prob is that I want a gentle birth, everything I didn't get the last time. I really hope it will work out.

Also planning a VBAC. DD was breached, so hopefully we won't have a repeat of that. My new doc is very supportive which really helps. Hope everyone has a wonderful VBAC experience!

I belong to ICAN too. 2 women in my local chapter had VBACS w/the midwives I'll be using this past fall. My mws also have a 98% VBAC success rate and a 4% c/s rate so I know I'm in good hands.

i'm hoping to VBAC but i have a few things to consider. i have chronic high bp (it's hereditary and i had severe pre-e which is why i had my first c section (bp of 212/121). i never went in to labour with dd. a c-section was decided when my bp was over 200 and rising. i was 35weeks. i hope this pregnancy goes more smoothly. i hope to have a midwife this time around and hope to be more active in keeping my bp under control. i really hope i can be a VBAC candidate.

gwerydd, I have chronic hypertension, too. I've had it since I was 20 (I'm 36). I had pre-e, and my water broke at 35w5d. Luckily I was able to have a natural, vaginal birth (aside from pitocin) with ds, although i had to labor on my side due to my BP. So I hear where you're coming from.

No matter my weight or exercise level, my BP is always elevated. Sigh.

I'm hoping this pg is different because I'm not working, I'm exercising and I'm trying to be conscientious about getting the right food. Plus, I've heard that chocolate may help prevent pre-e, so I'm eating a ton!

it's so nice to hear from someone else with chronic high bp that doesn't respond to natural ways of controlling it. it's so frustrating. i've had it since i was young and have been on meds since i was 25. ooh, great to hear about the chocolate, i craved chocolate like nobody's business last time, and i wouldn't be surprised if i do again. that makes me happy.

I am aiming for a vbac also. I had a c-sec with my DS since he would not engage - he was 11 lbs 2 oz at birth. The ob says both he and I would be severely damaged if we tried vaginally. This time the ob says it is a good possibility that I will c-sec especially if the baby is that big but she is willing to try vbac.

Had two c sections in Canada, and now we are in the UK, I just asked the doctor who said I HAVE to have another c section....hmmm, I'm going to check with the midwives though. I thought th UK was pretty open about VBACS.

I'd find a new OB. Most VBACs are with babies bigger than the first one with none of the problems the first had. For some reason, the next time around, it's supposed to go much more smoothly.

I would like to VBAC but am not sure it will happen. Another high BP person over here--I have hyperthyroidism that developed in my last pregnancy--and had pre-e last time also. I was induced and after 30 hrs of labor, had a c-section. I was fully dilated but he just didn't want to leave. Turns out he was facing my back and had one arm up. Owww. So this time it will depend on if I can find a brith provider who will work with the hyperthryroid/high bp issues.

I would love to VBA2C. I really long for it! As many of you, I have some reasons that make care providers hesitant to proceed with those plans. I'm looking into a midwife. I've been slow to contact any potential doctors or midwives because I don't want to confront their doubts yet.

Man, not at all. I'm in Alaska! I used to have a friend in Clarksville, but she moved back to VT, squashing my plans of staying with her til I could go to The Farm. Now I'm looking at that ob...heard she is really really good, lets people eat during labor and birth squatting. That would rock.
