I have been depressed and in denial for a very long time, and I am finally getting motivated to go to the doctor and request medications. Much of the reason I haven't done it up until now is that I'm breastfeeding. I have heard that Zoloft is the only antidepressant "proven" to be safe for b/f. So I figured that's what I'll be asking my doctor for. From what I understand there just haven't been very many studies done, and the ones that have been done are so small that they can't tell us much. Have any of you taken antidepressants while breastfeeding? Max is nearly 2, so he doesn't nurse quite as much as he used to, but seriously, he still nurses at least 8-10 times a day. I have absolutely no idea how much milk he is even getting these days, I could try pumping to get a bit of an idea I guess... So, is it silly for me to be concered about this? I just want to feel happy again, and to actually have a life and be motivated - I know I will be a better mom, so that should outweigh any doubts, but I still worry... any advice or stories to share???
