I have a few quick gifts to make on the cheap. Does anyone have any good ideas for gifts from the scrap basket? The easeir and quicker the better.
Thanks

Who are the gifts for, and what size and types of scraps do you have?

Gifts are for teachers and friends. All are women. I have all size scraps. I found a pattern for a chicken pincushion which is really cute
but all dont sew or need a pin cushion

Key fobs! I love, love, love key fobs. You'd need to get the hardware for them, but that's really inexpensive, and if you wanted you could even just attach the keychain rings instead of the whole hardware thing.

Little change pouches?

Depending on the sizes of your scraps you could do small wallets.

The key fob idea is probably the quickest & easiest of the ones I mentioned.

I saw a tutorial for a Japanese knot bag today:

How about tissue holders? They are super easy and just take up a little bit of fabric.

CD key chains, If you use a little cardoard, maybe hot glue you could do picture frames, cell phone holders, totes, water bottle holders, crayon holders, paci holders, kids totes, basket cover in itself, hot pads (depending)apron out of scraps, Let us know what you do, GREAT thread

Got another one--coasters! I made a few yesterday and they didn't use much fabric at all.

oooohh... Coasters.... What did you put between the fabric. I guess I mean how many layers of fabric did you use?

I finished the Japanese Knot bag. It turned out well but was a little tricky in spots. It will make a great teacher gift.

I had some thin batting left over from making a quilt and put that between two cotton pieces. They turned out about 4" square, there are pics on my blog if you want to see! You could use flannel instead of batting, that would work, or even double up the cotton so there are 4 layers.

I'll have to try that knot bag, it looks so cute. Just add it to my list of 1 billion things to sew, LOL

Well... I googled fabric coaster and came up with this tute. I made 4 this morning. Super quick and easy. Nothing like making teacher gift the last day of school
http://allsorts.typepad.com/allsorts...ross_coas.html

They look really nice and like they took a lot of time. But I did them in 30min.

pbandj - I enjoyed looking at your blog. Love the fabric on the wet bag. And you napkins and coasters look great. Im gonna use your idea. I'll put it on my list to do

Those coasters are neat, I want to make some now. Looks like you finished in the nick of time! I bet the teachers will just love them. Thanks for looking at my blog!
