This is our word too. One day DH and DS were in the bath. DS was pointing out body parts to DH and naming them. Then DH would ask if DD or I had these parts. DS pointed to DH nipples and said Nipples. DH asked if DD had them too, DS said yes; then DH asked if mommy had them, DS said no. DH couldn't believe it. Well, I joined them in the bath. DH pointed to my nipples and asked DS if I don't have nipples then what are these. DS rolled his eyes and said, "milkies".

DS did and DD does use the word nurse.

However, from DS it was more like nuh-sss.

DD is nus with a slight r-ish sound before the s. The other thing she does is insist on nursing each side at each "setting". She makes a big drama out of which side gets to go first!

DD came up with "gung-gung" when she was a year old and that has stuck.

Now I ask ds if he wants "gung-gung"!

I have always said "mimis" (as my word to nurse) to my 15 month old, but when she was a year she started asking for "eeeeshhh". I think it's a modified version of the word "switch" when we switch sides. Now she says "eeeesh, eeeesh" when she wants to nurse, even at night, and when we switch sides she says "itch". Too cute!

"Nurt" here, as in "ion-a nurt!".

Which, if delayed even momentarily, quickly escalates into "ION-A NURT!!!" at the top of his lungs.

Na-nas, Na-nas (throw herself into cradle postion on my lap and/or stick her hand in my shirt)

Which is what all mine have called it. But that's what I call it. That's what I called it w/my mom. I love that we have a multigenerational nursing word.

My 19 month old DS calls it "mottie" which I gather is a combination of milk and water(watty). He calls all drinks mottie, but can really yell it if nursing doesn't get under way soon after he requests it.

We call it the Boo's or he calls it Boo or Mama Boo. It is under my screen name.

DS just asks for breast. It was cuter before his articulation improved, though, because he used to ask, appropriately, for best.

We speak italian in the home...so we call it latte...italian for milk. DS doesn't say it yet but if I ask if he wants latte he runs to me and lifts my shirt up.

DS climbs into my lap, puts his mouth on my shoulder and says "nigh nigh nigh" He has associated nursing with nigh night. He's 10 months old and it's the only thing he says consistently. It is SO cute!!

My dd2 doesn't have a word for it, she has a sound. It's kinda hard to discribe. It's like she's trying to say nu nu nu, but instead of saying it she just pushes her tongue in and out of her mouth so it's just a sound. All this while pulling on my shirt of course.

Ok, and this is my own demented issue (or a complete lack of sleep ), but when I read this the first thing I thought was how this would make for an interesting trip to Starbucks! :

DS says "nur" and points to his chest with his thumb (don't know where he got that part)

I always say either milk or milkies, but DD just sticks out her tongue and points to it, it's pretty funny!
