Acne ???????????

My LO has what appears to be acne but I am finding it on his stomach also and few on his legs ... please help

My daughter's face was covered in it; it's normal from hormones transfered to the babe or something-- at least that is what I was told at the time. We just washed her face with warm water and gentle soap as usual and it cleared up in a week or so.

Could it be a heat rash? Have you been swaddling him? Does the skin around the bumps appear red after unwrapping him?

It could be the acne spreading... if you use a cloth to wash him make sure you ring it out after you wash his face and before washing the rest of his body.

I don't swaddle him (he would not allow it LOL), it might be the acne spreading, but is that normal?

yeah i should have said that, too...but my daughters did go down her neck and on her upper arms as well. That part actually took longer to clear than her face.

It could be a sensitivity to laundry soap, you could try doing an extra rinse cycle on his clothes. You might want to give him a bath with just water too.

DS1 got "baby acne" down to his hips. Or maybe it was heat rash. Or maybe it was his unidentified food allergies... I tried cutting out dairy, but didn't really know how to do it properly, and later we discovered that wheat was actually a bigger issue for him.

DS2 has major pizza-face right now, but it hasn't gone past his chin. Time will tell, though; it started on his face/head with DS1, too, and just kept moving down. ;-)

ds1 and ds3 got baby acne break outs around 6 wks... ds3 still has it here and there on his face. Ds2 got it a day or so after he was born. Pus filled acne that was so gross and made me feel so bad. It went away and never came back.
So my opinion is it's normal but I'm sure if it didn't go away I'd start looking at food or environmental sensitivities.

We're in week 3 of the acne...face, scalp, upper chest, and shoulders. I've heard boys get it worse than girls. We're seeing my midwife today, so I'll ask her if this is normal--it looks awful!

we've got it bad here. its spreading onto her neck, her chest and its all over her face. dh keeps freaking out asking if we should take her in. yeah, i want to pay $30 copay for a dr to tell me its normal. i just hope it starts clearing up soon so i can stop calling her "smallpox baby". yeah, we're weird. lol

It's normal usually. Just the whole hormone transfer thing of mom to babe. All my kids had it on their face and it cleared up on its own. Little girls can also get a "mini period" from them.

it's mostly gone today...it lasted 3 weeks. I left it alone except to put neosporin on his ears, which looked a little crusty and yellow.

ds 2 has it to..she's almost 6 weeks and has had little pimples on her face and the back of her neck for 2 weeks or so? I wouldn't even put soap, just some warm water....hoping they will just fade. I have noticed she gets more when I put her in the sling in the heat....it's 100 plus in Los Angeles today. yikes.

Oh, you must be in the Valley... it's only 94 or so down here by Griffith Park! ;-)

But yeah, the heat has really made it worse. It's nearly gone from his scalp and forehead, but now he's popping out angry red bumps on his arms. :-/ Been scrubbing him with a damp washcloth, to help get the dead skin off (anyone else's baby shedding like a lizard? Doc says it's normal) but otherwise leaving it alone.
