what does this mean?!?

Alright, so here is the pattern that i am working on (sorry, you have to register!)

And here is a picture of the sweater knitted up, on the top of the post (my talented sister's blog!)

And here is where i am confused:
SLEEVE (make 2)
Cast on 27 (29, 29, 29, 31) sts.
Work 5 rows in Seed st.
Knit 1 row, purl 1 row.
Continue in St st, increasing 1 st at each end every other row 3 (0, 0, 0, 0) times, every 4th row 4 (7, 7, 8, 8) times - 41 (43, 43, 45, 47) sts.
Work even in St st until Sleeve measures 4 1/2 (5 1/2, 6 1/2, 7 1/4, 9 1/4) in. (11.5 (14, 16.5, 18.5, 23.5) cm) from beg, end with a WS row.
Shape Armhole
Bind off 3 sts at beg of next 2 rows - 35 (37, 37, 39, 41) sts. Place sts on a holder.

Whaaaa? I am so confused! I am doing the smallest size. So am i increasing every other row or every fourth row?

Thanks!

The way I read it is that you increase every other row for 3 repeats, and THEN every 4th row for 4 repeats. At the end of that you should have 41 stitches.

My guess is that you increase 1 st at either end every other row three times, then only do the increases every 4th row.
row 1 inc (29 st)
row 2
row 3 inc (31 st)
row 4
row 5 inc (33 st)
row 6 , 7 8
row 9 inc (35 st)
row 10, 11, 12
row 13 inc (37 st)
row 14, 15, 16
row 17 inc (39 st)
row 18, 19, 20
row 21 inc (41 st)

hth!

Yes! Thank you that makes a lot of sense

Knit 1 row, purl 1 row.
Continue in St st, increasing 1 st at each end every other row 3 (0, 0, 0, 0) times

So on rows 3, 5, 7, you increase 1 stitch at the beginning of the row and 1 stitch at the end. (Don't make the increases in the end stitches, it looks better to do it one or 2 from the end). The numbers in parentheses don't have anything to do with your size so ignore them. You should have 33 stitches

every 4th row 4 (7, 7, 8, 8) times
Then on rows 11, 15, 19, 23, you do the same thing. This will bring you up to 41 stitches.

I "put" the increases on the right side rows with these instructions because increasing in knit is a whole lot easier than doing it in purl for me. If you want to increase on the wrong side rows, you will use rows 4,6,8,12,16,20 and 24.
