Natural bug repellant?

We're looking for a natural bug repellent. I saw one at Whole Foods. The name escapes me but it had some essential oils in it. Does anyone here make their own? What should you use? We're having a huge tick problem lately. Those little buggers are everywhere in large numbers and I'd love something to repell them.

You can just mix tea tree oil with water and use it in a sprayer. We did that before and it worked well but I do believe you need a good quality EO if you are going to go that route.
