I want a fake tan

I want a no-sun tanning lotion but don't want all the yuck. Does anyone use one? How well does it work?

:

i posted a question like this last week and haven't heard anything...maybe my post was too rambling!! hope you get some responses soon!
If you specify what you mean by "yuck" you might get more responses. I would probably use something like the moisturizing creams that gradually darken you skin.

And I think I've used Clarins in the past which was pricey but came out nice.

I don't know but I'm curious too. I used to go to tanning beds before kids, then realized how unhealthy it is (although I liked the tan look much better than my current paleness). When I was younger, I could be outside for such a short time and would tan and never burn. Now I never tan (or burn). I suppose it's because I never used sunscreen as a kid.

A few years ago I did the Mystic Tan, Airbrush tanning, and at home lotions. The first two were way too expensive and only looked really good for 4-5 days. The last one needed to be done too often and it took too much time while I waited for it to dry. Now I care a lot more about yucky chemicals and know more than I did then, so I'm waiting for a good solution too.

I like the Jergens moisturizing tanner.
Its kind of yuck because it takes a long time to dry.
The plus is that its really hard to screw up. No streaks. No dark spots.

I try not to think about the chemicals. I'm so pale that it kind of scares people so I feel the urge to faux tan.

'Yuck' meaning chemicals. I don't want all the chemicals....I guess I figured that was kind of an obvious being under green living > natural body care

Don't do it!! Embrace your alabaster beauty! Start a new trend, a new way of looking at beauty. Don't give in to the commercialism that says we need to look like chemically painted super models - and please don't paint your body with chemicals that semi-permanently change it's color.

Just my thoughts... and I have very pale skin!

^ I have really pale skin too only my face is red! And I'm pregnant so I get really bad spider veins and I just want to wear shorts this summer. Ahhh! I never wear shorts because my legs look awful.
i'm with you in that i'm pregnant and i want to wear shorts or skirts at least. the little bit of color makes it so i don't look so fat too. i use the dove build a tan and am pleased that it moisturizes so well. the more summer comes on the more sick of putting it on i get, and i actually get a little of my own tan.

aprilibarra and janasmama, i totally feel your pain...it's not so much the pale color that bothers me, it's that the paleness accentuates the spider veins and cellulite on my legs...only i'm not currently pregnant (i was last summer and managed to survive with capris, but i spent very little time outdoors!) i'm all about the "pale is the new tan" movement, but just a little bit of color on my legs would make me feel a LOT less self-conscious about my legs!!

I don't think there is anything natural out there that will give you a tan, or at least a natural-ish looking one. The reason those tanning creams, lotions, sprays, etc work is because of the chemicals and yuck.

I'm very pale and have "tanned" in years past using the sun, tanning beds, spray tans, lotions, you name it. I say "tanned" in quotes because my "tan" is still paler than most people's winter pale.

Vanity is getting the better of me and I'm going to avoid tanning beds and limit sun exposure beginning this year. I don't like being pale but I don't like wrinkles & sunspots even more so! It'll be hard b/c I really prefer the "tan" look on me.

I feel your pain ladies, but I don't use self tanning creams on myself at all and wouldn't when I was pregnant for sure. As for me, when I see a pg lady, believe you me, I'm looking at her awesome bump and not sizing up her spider veins/hairy armpits/cellulite/what-have-you!

A couple brands make them-- Jason does, I forget who else. I think Jason is the one I have. It's in an orange tube. It works ok- I wasn't orange or streaky. I'll have to check it out again and report back.

^ So does it work really good? No streaking, dark spots?
I don't know if either of the ones I posted work well. Both are offered through Frontier, so if you got in on a coop, you could get a good price.

I've never tried it but here is a recipe for coffee ground tanner

Here's a cool way to rejuvenate your summer tan without damaging your skin with the sun's harmful rays. Add a cup of water to the day's old coffee grounds and boil. When it is cool to the touch rub it all over your body, you can even put it in a sprayer, get in the shower and soak yourself down that way. Let your skin absorb the coffee for about twenty minutes and then rinse in cool water. The coffee will stain your slightly to give your tan an extended life.

For those of us who are pale pale pale this might be a good way to take the edge off without going crazy.

I've been thinking about going to a spray tan place just to take the blinding glare off.

Alas, It is probably not safe...:
