UMBILICAL HERNIA??????????? Should I start freaking out???? ::
I wouldn't. DS2 had one, and while definitely weird to hear tummy rumblings through a golf ball sized belly button, it was not really anything to worry about. It was the biggest around 2 months of age, then started shrinking again. I forget when it quit being noticeable, they generally close up on their own in the first couple years. They are not usually anything to worry about! Oh, Dr. Sears talks about this in The Baby Book, too.

I wouldn't worry too much. Both my best friends boy's have them and they are completely fine!

Not in your DDC, but are you talking about yourself or your baby? If it's the baby, I don't know (although one of my kids had a minor one and outgrew it). If it's you, I developed one after my 3rd birth and didn't realize it until this pregnancy! I may or may not have it surgically repaired after this baby is born (it's supposedly a simple outpatient procedure). It's really more of a vanity issue than anything else.

My son Lynden had an umbilical hernia that went away on its own. They're not really anything to worry about - my Dr. said that if they don't heal on their own by age 2, then a simple procedure is done to correct it.

Yeah, my DS had it too. It was about the size of a walnut, but went away on its own.
