Noticed since I started to clean with only vinegar, baksing soda...that nowadays my nose is... - Page 2

Definitely. I am very sensitive to all sorts of chemicals and fragrance now. My dd has a friend whose mom uses tons of stinky fabric softener on their clothes, and this poor little girl smells so strong when she comes over, giving me a headache and practically choking me, that I have actually considered not letting her in the house anymore!

The same family, uses so much air freshener that you can smell it OUTSIDE their front door, when the door is closed! I can't imagine the toxins those kids are ingesting.

I absolutely avoid the laundry aisle in the grocery store, I just about pass out when I go down there. How can people smell that overwhelming chemical scent and say "yum, I'm going to buy that and dump in on my clothes?"

Any kind of bathroom cleaner is the worst, even the more natural ones often give me a headache. I stick to vinegar, baking soda and tea tree oil for cleaning my bathroom.

Me too!! I've only completely made the switch in the last 4 months or so, but man, I can notice a HUGE difference. I used to use all those plug-ins and Febreeze. Not to mention I used a ton of fabric softener!! Now I gag when I smell them. I notice them on other people's clothing now, too.

fragrance is overwhelming now that we've eliminated it from our cleaning and personal products.

Yes! I notice the chemically smells way more often than I used too. I've commented on smells more than once just to hear others say that they can't smell it. And, appropriately enough, I can't really smell the vinegar much anymore but when people come over as I'm cleaning something or right afterwards, they always comment about the smell. I guess it's all what you're used to.

Same here. My ILs had a 'mango' glade-plug-in type thing and I had to walk out. I felt terrible (socially, not physically), but I just couldn't stand it.

me too! I am so used to the vinegar smell that I cringe while passing the aisle.

my sister is always coming into my house saying yuck why does it stink in here? erin, it's vinegar, I clean with it.

I always walk into my mom's place (where she lives) and saying yuck what is that smell?
it's clorox wipes.

I add lemon and lime eo to my vinegar cleaning mix so it smells like a salad dressing to me.

it is nice to pass that aisle without spending a penny in it!

YES! I have noticed this too.

I have definitely noticed this, ESPECIALLY with fabric softener. I live across the street from a laundromat and I used to think the smell of "clean" laundry in the air was so nice. Now it just smells really heavy and chemically to me. And I am wearing a pair of pj's right now that got dried with a softner sheet and I'm dying.

Also, to PP who wanted to start cleaning with baking soda and vinegar: I use a spray bottle that's half water, half vinegar for everything but the tub and sinks. For that I make a paste out of baking soda and lemon juice. It smells awesome!
