As far as I can tell, your son hasn't asked for a sugary, white flour cake. Bake the kind of cake you want to give him, and let them get their own cake on their own time.


I also think that people feel judged when they think your decision is disapproving of theirs.

Oh, a great "frosting" for your fruit/carrot cake is raw cream whipped with a tiny bit of maple syrup. You have to do it at the last minute unless you stabilize it with gelatin, and you have to keep it refrigerated, but yum!
