and is considering fostering!!!!

This from the woman who chased poor DH with a butcher knife, swung a baseball bat at his head when he was 11, belittled and humiliated him constantly and still (if we let her) talks about how he "just doesn't think" "can't do anything right" etc...

Yeah, she needs a child in her home like...

Maybe you could help her find a hobby to distract her...

She isn't in our lives. We heard this through the grapevine (DH's aunt).

I'd be tempted to call the CPS in your area and give them a heads up on WHY she might not be the best option they have.

I certainly hope it was just a rumor. Your poor husband

I hope she gets turned down. I'd seriously consider a letter to cps.

Yikes. I would definately call whoever to give them a heads up there. I would be first in line if my own MIL were to have that idea and she wasn't quite as bad as yours. <shudder>

ITA - I would make an anon call

Hopefully she won't pass their qualifications screening.

Don't call them, they'll call your husband. DFS is required to speak to any living children of potential foster parents and if your DH just tells the truth they'll deny her. They won't tell her that your husband gave a bad reference, they'll just say that all of her background didn't clear.

Are you sure she's looking for foster CHILDREN and not dogs or something like that?

She talked it over with DH's aunt (her sister who we talk to) and thought it would be a great idea since she has two extra bedrooms and a big yard.

Then she should put an ad in the paper for rooms for rent if it's the extra money she wants...

Too bad they don't do this for social workers as well. My father is a social worker who specializes in teaching people parenting skills. I'm the only person that he ever attempted to "parent" and I can tell you that he wouldn't know a parenting skill if it bit him on the backside. Sigh. Not that anyone asked me or anything.
