I have one of these http://hyenacart.com/prod_details.php?id=53890&vid=9 and I love making drawstrings with it! I have no idea if it is faster than doing an I cord but the result is a fairly thick, flexible and durable drawstring. It seems a kid could catch on to using it fairly quickly too.
