My son is acting like a "teenage girl."

Or at least like the cliche of one. He's 11 and newly pubescent. He's always been "sensitive," but lately he cries at the least thing, gets ticked of at everything, and spends half the day in his room.

He doesn't seem to be sick, and I think he's getting enough sleep....

I grew up in an all-girl family, so boy-adolescence is new to me. Is this what boys are like? Is he going to be tearful and pissy for the next several years?

maybe..... no , j/k
I am sorry to not be of any help, your post just cracked me up

fwiw, I have a 13yo DS, and he spends most of his time shut up in his room. He used to be very modest, would never be caught without a shirt on, now I pass by his room and he is basically spending alot of time in nothing but a towel playing games or reading on his bed.

He does get physical exercise, but I have to push it.

(I know that does not answer your question, sorry, in a mood )

Boy adolescence REALLY isn't that much different than girls. They have mood swings, sensitive times, etc...I told my 14 year old nephew the other day that he must be PMSing.

Usually though, it tends to start a little later and end a little sooner than it does with girls.

It's not that unusual, but boys get so much grief for displaying their emotions that many learn to suppress them.

I recommend the book Real Boys. It's a good book.

My 12 year old is the same way. Cries at the drop of a hat and everything is a huge drama. This probably will last a few years because it is hormonal. I hope I survive.

My 13 yr old has been this way for the last couple of years.

Yup. He'll be whiny and pissy for a few more years
I'm so there with you. *sigh*

One thing that was hard to deal and learn about was male puberty. There is so little writen about it. Yes, the hormones come and the emotions can be from one end of the spectrum to the other.

My 11yo DS is touchy and cries easily. It's fine with me. He also openly cries during sad or touching movies and books.

Mine too. I don't remember my brothers being that way at all. I keep hearing tween is the new teen.

Why can't they stay 2 or 3 forever?
