has this happened to anyone else?! I am newly pregnant, about 6-7 weeks along, morning sickness has hit, and I have a total aversion to knitting. I hope it goes away! If this did happen to you, did it go away after the first trimester?
Oh goodness yes. Yes, yes, yes. I pushed through the nausea to finish a few things anyway I can't even look at them now without feeling ill. I'm now in the second trimester and doing much much better, knitting up tiny sweaters. I still am avoiding my drop spindle though, just the thought of it spinning around and around makes me want to :Puke
Me too. I couldn't knit from about 8 weeks until 14 weeks because of the pukiness and total inability to concentrate.
I'm now on my second pair of longies this week and finished a bunting I had to set aside two months ago due to back-ordered yarn.
And I'm planning baby gifts for friends and relatives.
Yeah, I was okay by the end of the first trimester, but I just didn't have the energy to knit before that. I remember the same thing from my first pg--I knit loads of little sweaters for The Boy, but none of them until after the first 15 or so weeks.
I can totally relate. For me it's the lack of energy and the heat. It's already hot where I live, and the idea of having warm hands AND nausea just icks me out. So, you know, I spend my knitting time under the ceiling fan queuing up baby patterns on Ravelry.
I can't believe this is actually a phenomenon. Yeah, that happened to me, too, and it drove me nuts because I'd had all these grand ambitions of making baby things. I couldn't knit again until my kiddos were crawling, both times.
thanks for all the reassurance---I'm glad to know I'm not alone! It just seems so wierd, I can't even touch my stash. It just gets to me. I feel yucky...but hopefully this means all is well with the baby.
I'm counting down the days to the end of morning (read-all day) sickness. I have so much knitting I want to do!
I don't remember doing much of anything 1st tri. I'd teach in the morning go home and sleep or lie around watching bad TV all afternoon and evening. I didn't even want to read, which is my all-time favorite hobby.
you'll feel like knitting again as your body adjusts, that's what happened to me too, and I'm knitting and sewing up a storm now since 14 weeks or so! when you feel so pukey it's hard to want to do anything!!
I had an aversion to most everything when I felt nauseous, including getting the mail, playing online, being awake... I bet you'll be right back at it when your feeling better. Hope that's soon!
LOL, it is kind of true for me. I had been knitting like crazy til I got my BFP then I didn't want to do much of anything, knitting included, mostly because I am exhausted. I can't wait to get my knitting mojo back, I have so much baby stuff I want to make!
