i wrote you all a post but it got eatted

anyway i was asked today if i didnt mind being on standby to care for a BF babe in June. Mama is going to an awards ceremony, one in a lifetime thing and cant take babe with her, is pumping to store some and babe will take a cup but shes not 100% sure about if her hubby will cope if babe jsut needs the skin to skin/mama hugs/boob and asked if i didnt mind helping out.

i said yeah sure, ill pump if need be or i will even take the babe for the whole night if need be. i said that if she was happy her babe gettingit from my tap i was happy to provide it from my tap. she even said she would prefer babe to get it from ym tap instead of a cup.

im pretty excited about this, i may not help out if they dont need me but the fact she even thought to ask a BF mum to help her BF her baby is great.

while we ewre talking about this i was BFing Evie in the Ergo and a woman walked past and gave me such a look, i just smiled sweetly and carried on.

Her DD is a few weeks younger than my DD2 and has a VERY similar name (well same name but witha A on the end)

How cool. I would love to be able to do this for someone's babe.

Very nice I would also love to do this for someone elses babe.

Actually when I was in the hospital after I had and lost my DD Sonja, I could here the baby in the next room crying and mama was having a really hard time feeding her. I was just aching to see if I could feed their babe as my milk had started to come in on the second day even without a baby nursing. I thought "if only I could nurse that baby while mama got some sleep then maybe that would help her" Instead they gave the baby a bottle of artificial milk while my wonderful milk flowed for naught

My great grandmother was a wet nurse, she nursed for over 15 years between her children and others.

I'm a wet nurse...sort of. I pump for a set of twins that were born two weeks before Faith. I also have actually nursed them upon occasion.

With my son I donated to a milk bank. And you know what's cool? My mom did the same thing. When I started donating to the twins she told me that she had expressed for premies when she had us. I guess over-producing runs in the family.

I would love to be able to do this for someone! As it is, I am pumping for a friend's baby and shipping it off in dry ice.

I have a sitter coming next week who will BF my son if he gets hungry while I'm gone (it's only a couple of hours, so it could go either way). I think it's awesome.

That's very cool. I wish more people were that openminded.

A friend and I exchange babysitting sometimes... we're both lactating and I've nursed her LO a couple of times.

wow!!!! I would LOVE to be a wet nurse of my best friend's baby! She is preggo like me and I think I would do this for her child as I think my friend will do it for MY child! that's just awesome My dh's grandmother told me how her sister used to be wet nurse of other children, and how proud of her sister she was. I am so happy to be around relatives that support breastfeeding to that point. She also told me she breastfed her kids until they were 4 years old! They are Cubans.
