Boning substitute?

I need some boning for a project, but can't find any locally or in the neighboring cities. With a baby due any day now, I don't really have time to order any. Is there anything I can use as a substitute? I wanted to make a nursing cover for myself, so it's not anything I'm going to be selling or gifting.

Thanks!!

You can cut plastic detergent bottles and get some pretty long pieces if you cut around the jug horizontally. You cut on a slight diagonal, if you need a really long piece.

I am having the same problem...Today I got fed up and cut the underwire part out of an old bra -- I think it will work! Good luck!
