Breastfeeding + weird cycle?

Not sure what's going on here. With ds1 I got af back when he was 10m. It took a few months to get to normal and then I ended up preg with ds2. Now with ds2 I got af back at 3m-grrr. From the start it's been monthly and normal, though I haven't been writing them down, just watching the calendar/my body etc. My last af was the end of March-I remember being happy because we had family coming and I didn't want to be bothered with it etc...
Then some things started to happen-a few weeks ago when I should have gotten af I had 3 days where I woke up and had just a smidge of blood smear when I wiped and then nothing else until the next morning to repeat the same thing again. I thought that was odd, but thought maybe I'd get the full af in a few days. Forgot all about it. Started getting super tired, but ds2 is also waking 2-3x a night to nurse, so thought I just wasn't getting enough sleep. The past week I started getting nausous at odd times in the day, and feeling pressure in the navel area, peeing alot, increase hunger.... Now dh and I have been super careful and always withdraw. I looked at the calendar and thought ok, 16days or more late-take a test. Two negative tests.
We are ebf with limited solids. I'm trying to figure out what's going on. Can my cycle just go off? Can it be bf related? Or I thought briefly a uti, but no other symptoms. Or is it a poss preg but since I have low hcg levels to start it's not picking up? I'm thinking to go get my iron level tested. Could low iron mess up my cycle? Why the three days of morning spotting and nothing else? Sorry all the questions.

Same Boat

I'm in the same boat as you. AF came back with DS#2 at 3 months PP. He's now almost 3 and we have being TTC #3 since Jan. 07 (basically because it took 9 and 5 months respectivly to get preggers with #1 and #2). But here we are, almost 18 months later and no baby.

This month I was sure that I was pregnant! My cycles (i've never missed one, except pregnant and PP) are usually between 31-36 days. I've had the occassional 40 day cycle, but never more than that. Now I'm on day 48 and nothing (just a little spotting this past weekend), but 7 HPTs say NOT PREGNANT.

Getting a little desparate here. Hubbie and I are Catholic and if we can't have anymore naturally we are very open to adoption, but I don't know if I should get some tests done to see if there are some minor things I could do to fix this.

DS#2 is still nursing, but very irregularly (maybe once a day) and I got pregnant with him when I was nursing DS#1 a good bit.

Weird.

Hope to hear some good advice.

DH and I use NFP too, as we're also Catholic, and I was wondering, have you been charting? BBT or cervical mucus or checking your cervix? If you start keeping track of those things on a daily basis, then usually you can get an NFP instructor to look your chart over and tell you what they think is going on. (Since you mentioned 'getting some tests done.') I guess that's what I'd do if I were you.

Beppie,
I think that's what I should do - the charting I mean. I've been checking my CM and I definitely have fertile type CM at appropriate times, but I haven't really been charting except just to write down when I get AF. I think next cycle (if my period ever will start - on day #51 now) i'll start temp taking with the CM checks. That may give me an idea if I'm even ovulating. I thought I would use that fertility friend online site.

One concern though is that I work night shift two days a week and my temps have always been off because of that. But I guess some idea is better than no idea.

I saw an OB yesterday who suggested Provera (to bring on my period) and then Clomid next month. But with a little one still nursing - who knows if the little bit of nursing that he does is actually keeping me from ovulating. And maybe that's part of the plan (God's plan I mean ).

We (DH and I ) gave our fertility over to Mary before we even married and though we have never used artificial BC the timing has seemed just perfect up to now. Maybe I've just forgetting that there is a bigger picture. :

Thanks so much - Katherine
