Rant: We just spent a really nice sunny day in the ER. We suspected ds had a hernia, and he's been horribly fussy lately with gas pains, so I wondered if it was all related. Our doctor told us to go to the ER...5 hours later, they said yes it was a hernia, and that we should just go to the doctor on Monday. Apparently they don't usually do surgery to fix it on babies, and we will likely just have to wait until he's older. If it's causing the fussiness, I can't deal with another couple years of discomfort!
I can't believe it took 5 hours. Everyone there was so inefficient, and I am dreading the bills (they even made us get an ultrasound, and I wasn't quick enough to think to challenge that and see if it was really necessary). I'm so tired of this system--our insurance is crappy AND expensive, they keep rejecting things (like the required newborn screening!), and I have to pay for 2 deliveries (the birth center, where we were for a long while, and the hospital, where he was born on the 3rd day). Argh.
