How often do you take pictures of your kids?

Because I almost never take pictures of them and I'm starting to feel guilty about it. If you do think to snap picture of them how do you remember or think of it? do you always have a camera handy? Do you take it with you places? Should I stop worrying about it or are my kids going to be made someday that there aren't any of their childhood or will I wish I had them someday?

I always have the camera hanging around and I take pictures of DS every day. At last count we had a couple thousand pictures of him, and he'll be a year old on July 4th.

Not nearly as often as I should. Maybe Im a 'bad mommy', but I didn't even get pictures of my youngest on her 1st bday

With dh deployed, I know he wishes I would take more pictures than I do. I literally have to go out of my way to make sure I take pictures when we're doing something that I know he would want to see. I'm just not a picture taking person, but for his sake, I'm getting better at it.

I've taken about 7500 pics of my kids since last summer. I've always got the camera handy and it's not unusual for me to take pics daily.

I take pictures every couple of days. We have a blog where we post photos and let family see them. We live far away from family, so it's the main way that they keep up with the baby's development.

What I need to do is back up the photos! It's great to have them digitally, but it would be like I never had ANY if something were to happen to the computer.

We have thousands of DS. I go through fits and bursts of taking photos.

I love to take photos and it's my hobby so I have quite a few!

Now that I'm pregnant, we've (DS and I) spent lots of time looking back at photos of when he was smaller and taking about what it was like when he was a baby, and the things he did.

I have thousands of DS (3.5 years). I always have my camera handy, carry it in my bag a lot of the time, etc. And DS loves having pictures taken, he often gets the camera and begs me to take pics.

We also have thousands and thousands of photos. I scrapbook so I keep the camera close by for those perfect moments. We probably take pictures every couple of days. The camera is in the living room and battery always charged so it is pretty easy to grab. Plus, we take it with us every time we go to the park or wherever.

Not saying this to make you feel bad but because you asked, I thought I would give you two adults perspective on having childhood photos - My H has about 3 photos of himself from his childhood and it really bothers him a lot and he really wishes his mom had taken more. My family took lots of pictures and my mom recently made me a CD with all my childhood photos. It was super cool to look at!

I have thousands over the span of 4 years. My dad was a photographer, so I grew up having every single moment photojournalized. Now, I'm a budding photographer, and I practically have the camera tied to my wrist all day.

I too always have a camera handy. I have hundreds since we went digital.

On the other hand I came into the world at 6 months old. My parents have a couple hundred of my sister and very few of me.

Every day. I keep many photos on a website so my parents can see them. I update it every few days with new pics.

If you feel like you should take more, or want to take more, then try keeping your camera out somewhere obvious and make sure it's always charged and ready to go.

Not Enough!!

It is hard for me to take pictures and still be present with what is happening.

I find myself asking DS to Smile etc instead of just hanging out.


DP, on the other hand, is awesome about being able to just take pictures and not "Direct" AND still interact.

We prob get pics about once a week, but it really amounts to quite a bit.

We have 1000s of photos. I probably shoot at least once a week.

If you don't already have one, get a SMALL digital camera that you can keep in your purse/bag. Amazon sells some decent fairly inexpensive ones. If the camera is convenient, you'll start to use it more. I sometimes leave it out on the kitchen counter as a way to remind myself. I need to do the same with the camcorder!!

We have thousands of photos, along with videos...We also have dvd's of pictures that my brother puts together every year highlighting that year. Its so wonderful to have! I dont usually try and make them smile, just snap and click here and there. I think it is great that they are going to have so many pics when they grow up. I didnt have many and I'm glad I'm able to give that to them.

But, I hardly ever remember to take my camera with me.

i'm the bad mommy as well. you can tell by our "album" (i.e. a folder name "family" on the comp!) i would say well over half are taken by my mom and not even myself! i am horrible at it!

ITA with this though. my camera isn't HUGE (like a pro) but its not the slim ones either. i have thought MANY MANY times that if i could get a super slim (.5 in or less/fits in my back pocket) then i would take more. if/when i get a new one i am going to make a "holster" for my pants so that its protected (and i don't sit on it) but its always available but not hanging on my wrist etc...just need to save up and start shopping! i hate thinking though that my camera is a GOOD camera (its a few years but still very similar to everything out) and buying another seems like a waste.

Several days a week. I go through periods - like if it is sunny for the 1st time, or DS or DD are doing something new... then I take about 20 pics, and save the best 2-4. My family is overseas, so I post them on my website so they have easy access to what they are doing. My 18mo DD LOVES to see pictures of herself, and more recently others, online as well. We run a slideshow and she makes comments about the photos and asks to see specific people. She now knows the names of many people in the album that she hasn't seen in over a year.

The downside: I'm hard on cameras. I broke my flash 2 months ago, which cost 350 dollars to replace, and 3 weeks ago I broke the gripper on my lens, which cost another 150 dollars.

Off topic: just fyi, if you have a quality camera now and buy a slim budget camera, you may be disappointed in the speed. It may not sound like a lot, but if you are used to 1 picture in less than a second, and now can only take one picture every 2-3 seconds, it is a HUGE difference. You actually have to anticipate the picture before it happens. Want to catch DS smiling, you have to press the lever 2 seconds before he smiles. Difficult, unless you do it A LOT, and even then it is hard.
