What to make out of old tshirts?

Ok, so over there years there have been tshirts of my oldest child that I could not get rid of (the others are still little, so Im sure they'll have those too). You know, shirts from places we've been or groups he was in, memories. I thought of a patchwork quilt but have been told that the fabric is too thin for that. Maybe if I sewed the shirts to something else first? Or, any OTHER ideas? My exmil made a pillow for ds out of an old shirt. But that was one. I have like thirty.

A t-shirt quilt is totally do-able. I'm taking a class this summer at my local quilt shop and I've seen plenty of them. Google for instructions. HTH.

I've been cutting up old tshirts into strips to make a braided rag rug.

if you use a fusable interfacing, you can make a quilt, there is lots of info available online.

I am planning to save some of my favorites out of ds baby clothes to do a patchwork quilt...from everything I understand it is doable, though I don't know the specifics......

Yeah, I used fusible interfacing and made a couple t-shirt quilts. Doing the interfacing is a little bit of a pain, just time consuming, but beyond making the shirts a little sturdier it also makes the sewing process easier since the tshirts don't stretch as much and the edges don't roll up once they're interfaced.
If the shirts are really worn thin though, be aware that the stickiness of the fusible might come through to the front a little - do a test bit from another part of the shirt first if you're worried. Oh, and watch out for the rubbery printings on some tshirts - they melt when ironed!!! (Ask me how I know...)

My favorite was the one I did for my sister with lightweight denim as sashing that we call her "jeans and tshirt quilt". It wasn't old jeans reused, though; I bought lighter weight denim specifically for the project because jeans would've been too heavy, but I liked the way it turned out.

I made a quilt out of old tshirts.Interfacing would have made it easier but it's not necessary.

I saw a pattern in which you cut out baby pants from the chest portion of old shirts. Seemed pretty cute! And the bottom hem is already done for you.

Yeah, same here. :

Some of the other things I've made from T-shirts are:

-skirts
-tank tops
-duvet cover
-pillows
-hand bags
-toy balls
-bracelets
-wrist warmers
-shag rugs
-toddler activity books

There a bunch of great clothing and accessory ideas in a book called "Generation T". I can't remember the authors name, but I'm sure a quick search would turn it up on Amazon. Have fun!

I make my daughter really soft pants out of my husbands old t-shirts. They are really comfy and kind of like yoga pants...

You could make little doll or stuffed animal clothes out of them. Cute!

I made a bunch of onesies from my babe to be out of his fathers old t's. They are so soft and way easier to find the material for then to try to find baby knit.
I think they came out rather well.
