I inherited my grandma's sourdough crock!

Do you mamas have any websites to point me to?

I've never made my own bread... ever. But I want to start, especially now that I convinced my mom to give me my grandma's old sourdough crock.

I mostly want to start out with maybe some whole wheat bread for sandwiches every week. Do you have a good starter recipe to share?

I don't have any recipes- I've never made sourdough bread. I just wanted to say how very, very cool it is to have such a treasure of your grandmother's!

This website has an awesome tutorial on how to do sourdough- http://myblessedhome.blogspot.com/20...ing-bread.html

I haven't looked at any of the rest of the site, but this looked to be right on.

Thanks for the suggestion! I have been poking around the net and I have to say that I am a bit overwhelmed! ...but I don't mind learning new things!

That is so totally cool. I wish I could luck upon such an item at a flea market/yard sale and not have to spend $100+ for the darned thing (includes lid, which you can NEVER find anymore) The only I worry about in crockery that old is lead. But since you aren't heating it up or anything maybe it isn't such a big deal?
