Decreased Movement

At what point do you worry about movement? Do you just sit down and do kick counts when you are worried?

I just noticed that baby has really slowed down today. Like a big difference from normal. Every time I've done a kick count baby has performed, but he just is definitely not as active.

Has anyone else experienced this?

I do kick counts when worried, i also listen with my doppler.

Do you regularly do kick counts so you know how many he would have how often?

ultimately if you're worried, go in and get a non-stress test done. NO harm in it and you'll see if there's anything to be concerened about. don't ignore it if you are feeling something is off.

have I had it? yes, when we went down to Boise for the (refused) induction. he was very stressed by the trip and the NST showed it. He was better after resting the next day though.

I've been dealing with this for about 2 months. The baby used to be really active then just slowed WAAAAAAAAY down. He can still pass a kick count, but I can tell that the movement is decreased. I mentioned it to my doctor and he had me do a NST, which showed everything to be fine. I think the decreased movement may have something to do with position. If my baby is anterior, all of the kicks are directed toward my spine, which is where the placenta is also. I think that just absorbs some of the shock of the kicks. Also, sometimes when I lay in bed, I can see tons of movement that I can't feel.

I know this post is really rambly, but I just want to say that yes, I am dealing with this too. It can be really stressful at times and I think it would be worth mentioning to your OB/midwife.

- the same thing here too.

, I know how worrisome it can be.

amy I had this so bad Thursday night that I was scared. I was crying and at 10 at night debating calling my midwife when babe gave me one swift kick in the gut. I then got a perfect kick count.

I think I had been really distracted all day and moving around alot puts him to sleep. I have been paying way better attn to kicking, but it is true that they slow way down-they are just out of room. If in doubt again though I have promised myself I will call my mw instead of getting to the point of tears.

Hope that helps hun! It's a crappy feeling when they are quiet, makes you want them out in a bad way where you can see and touch and the like.

baby girl has really slowed down over the last 5 days for sure. in fact, she's been really good at night now and has actually allowed me to sleep in increments of HOURS now!! it IS worrisome because you always wonder what's going on, especially when it's so close to the end, but she always gives me some nudges here and there to reassure me that she's ok.

hang in there, these babies are tough cookies now.

I think it's perfectly normal to see a reduction in movement at the end. They get a little cramped in there. Just when I begin to wonder if all is ok, I get a kick or two!

This baby has slowed down a lot in the last two weeks I think.

Thanks, ladies. You all definitely made me feel better. I have been getting lots more movement tonight, so I am feeling reassured. I'll keep an eye on things for tomorrow, and call my midwife if I am still worried.

It will be so nice when baby is out and I can feel more in control of him being okay or at least being able to take care of him.
