Soaking grains with dairy products

I am just starting to try soaking grains. I'd like to soak with the bread recipe I use. The liquid in it is buttermilk, so the recipe won't work with water and lemon juice/vinegar. I use store-bought pasturized milk. Is it really okay to soak overnight at room temperature with buttermilk, yogurt, or whey? Thanks!

Yup, it's ok.

It might have some sour taste but it won't be really strong. The fact that it's pasteurized dairy is offset by the fact that it's cultured.

Okay, thanks. I thought that maybe the fact that it was cultured would make a difference. I have no problem with leaving milk out to make yogurt, and today I am trying buttermilk for the first time, but the thought of leaving it out for another reason just seems so strange to me. Thanks again.
