For ds to play and learn. Can anyone here help me? I should probably start with a piece of plywood, right? Any tricks or interesting ways to do this?

Wondering too....

DD loves a felt board at a play group we go to (today) and I want to make her one.. I am thinking plywood might make for a really heavy one... If you already had an easel I am wondering if that could be adapted? I keep looking at that IKEA easel and thinking a large peice of felt sewn over the a thin dowel could then be clipped to the easel, if that makes any sence...

My DH made the kids one from a piece of paneling. He just fitted the felt over it and stapled it with his heavy duty stapler. It was easy and the kids LOVE it!

You know, I tried to make one and it didn't work out so well. Don't use the cheap felt from off the bolt at JAs. It just doesn't hold up right. It gets all fluffy and pilly and it holds the pieces ok at first, but after a while it just leaves little fluffs of fiber everywhere and things just don't hold to it right... it turned out to be more of a frustration than anything else for us. I was so disappointed! I ended up putting it away... I don't know, maybe if I'd used better quality felt it would've worked better? My kids were unfortunately not that into it anyway... their favorite activity was taking all the felt pieces and dumping them on the floor, they only actually played with it if I was actively doing it with them.
I don't mean to be a downer - just saying you might want to avoid that particular felt! I hope yours works out better!
