Cycle variations

I hope I can phrase this clearly. When there are differences in the length of your cycle, do they typically take place in the luteal phase? Or is it likely (or even possible) that length variations can take place in Phase I?

My cycles vary from 32-60 days but my luteal phase is always 12 days.

In almost all women (except postpartum mamas) the luteal phase doesn't vary by more than a day (or maybe two). Extra days almost exclusively occur pre-ovulation. AT least according to all my books.

:

the luteal phase is generally the same length each cycle, but the time in the follicular phase can vary a lot.
