California Baby

Please talk to me about this. I live in Canada and have never even seen it. Where do you buy it? Is there any good deals anywhere? What are the "must buys"
Thanks

I'll admit, I'm a bit of an *idiot*, but I couldn't find the sunscreen anywhere (I'm also in Canada), so I ordered it directly from the CB site. And I had a $44 order, I ended up paying $25 for shipping, and then $36 for Duty....NOT a good deal at all (but it's the only sunscreen I'll use on my DD, so I don't feel THAT bad).
Next time, I'll wait until I'm in the US, and buy it somewhere!!

My target carries a limited quantity of california baby products, such as shampoo, body wash and...well, come to think of it, I think that is all. I am very interested in the sunscreen, so I'm off to try and find it for a reasonable price.

It is super hard to find the sunscreen even in the US. A friend of mine checked Target, WF, and local HFS trying to find it and never did. I ended up finding one tube at Earth Fare (like WF, but smaller chain in the south) and I snatched it up b/c I hadn't seen it elsewhere. It was $18! I never have any trouble finding the shampoo, conditioner, or body wash and those are about $7ish a bottle.

The Target I shop at has a limited selection: shampoo, bubble bath and lotion. I've ordered it online from store.babycenter.com and drugstore.com and directly from californiababy.com . I LOVE LOVE LOVE the cranky and overtired scent. I am obsessed with it.

babycenter and drugstore sometimes have free shipping codes. But I don't know how that would apply to Canadian orders....

I ordered mine through a coop. I think I paid $14 for it. The closest Target doesn't sell the sunscreen.

I order all my California Baby on mothernature.com... good prices (not sure about shipping to Canada?) and I get free shipping when I spend over $49 I think. I just lump everything in one order. The sunblock has been out of stock though both times I've tried to order recently!

All California Baby products are 10% off right now at babycenter.com.

Where did you get california baby through a coop? I'd love more info on that option.

The coop is thru United Natural Foods (www.unfi.com). You could check the site and see if there is a coop group in your area.

The only thing I really, really love of theirs is the sunscreen. Everything else you can either find made by other companies or make yourself. I have bought it from MDC co-ops (Frontier?) when the organizing mama will ship to Canada.

Well, I guess I was lucky to find the sunscreen at whole foods. In addition to the sunscreen we use their super sensitive wash for my eczema kid and their calendula cream on him as well. Most things break him out and those don't. So they are keepers for us.

I agree! The calendula cream is doing wonders on my DS skin. It works better than hydrocortazone (sp?) cream.

I was told by both natural health stores in my town that they cannot get it in because there currently is not a Canadian distributor. This will hopefully change soon. Until then maybe look into lavera? I haven't tried it yet but I have heard they make organic unscented baby sunscreen using no chemicals, just titanium dioxide(like california baby). It is called Lavera baby and child neutral sunspray. Pure and simple sells it.

Just in case you still can't find it and don't want to pay customs.

Just saw they also sell UV Natural which seems well liked also. And it isn't really so expensive when you consider the bottle has twice as much as California baby.

Also at drugstore.com !
Out here in Japan I miss seeing a lot of my normal products, so we get tons of stuff off of there.

this won't help those in Canada, but FYI anyone who has access to a Martin's grocery store, they are now carrying the sunscreen. i just bought some like 2 days ago. it was $15 and change.

Martin's is owned by Giant Foods, so you might also be able to find it in a Giant grocery store if it has a natural foods section.

You might also check if you have a local health food store. Everywhere i've ever lived where there was a small, independently owned health food store, they'd be more than happy to order things for you if it's available through their distributor(s). So that might be a possibility.

Also http://www.mountainbaby.com carries it (only Canadian retailer I could find). It is a bit more expensive there, but still less than having to pay shipping from the US and customs. You probably already purchased sunscreen, but for anyone else interested
