Sleeping Arrangements - Page 2

DS is not in our bed(s) anymore, but he does still sleep in our room. We have two doubles on the floor next to each other plus a crib mattress on the floor for DS. Its big enough for a whole crew but I'm still not sure about sleeping arrangements...do those of you who co-sleep (or at least are in the bedroom with) an older toddler or preschooler find that the older child gets woken frequently by the baby?

We only finally have gotten that DS sleeping through the night most nights at 3.5 and I don't want his sleep to be disrupted. We've considered getting him moved to his own room before the baby comes and are working on it, but I'm not sure that will hold anyway once the baby is in with us. I am a pathetically light sleeper and I'm really not sure also that I want the baby in the same bed as me again. It was hard with DS. I like to have them in the same room and very close but on a seperate surface if possible.

Fortunately both my boys are heavy sleepers. One can be screaming in the same room and the other doesn't wake. Its GREAT!

We did move DS #1 to his own room and worked on him falling asleep there 6mos before #2 arrived. It was nice to establish that rather than making changes once baby arrived. He would and does still crawl in with us in the middle of the night...we call it the open door policy...he just needs to fall asleep in his bed then he can come snuggle if he wakes. If it is before I get to bed I usually bring him back to his own bed.

It was a little sad once baby was here and we were all in one room except #1. He and the baby rarely went to sleep at the same time at that point so he didn't necessarily know, but I felt a little sad w/o him! If I needed to get both he and #2 asleep I just had him come into bed with me as I nursed #2 to sleep. Whatever works at that point...it' s survival!
