I was gonna post this very same thread!
I have no idea what to get!
Did your hubby make a big deal out of your first mothers day?
Mine got me a card and that was it. I know it's the thought that counts but I kinda felt jipped.
I do want to get him something special though.

I didn't even get a card

I think I'm going to frame a picture of Ellie for his desk at work.

My dh went that morning and bought me a pair of sunglasses. I already have a pair I love. I gave him a million suggestions of what I wanted and he failed to listen. SO, he's not getting anything he really wants for father's day. I'm going to get him something small. A picture frame is a great idea...but dh is on the road and doesn't have an office. I don't know. A good place to look is www.redenvelope.com

I have the same problem; DH is not much of a gift-giver. BUT, I decided a long time ago that he's not going to learn to become one if he doesn't have any models around him (and his parents are lousy at it, too; they're totally the "What do you want for your birthday?" type of family). So, even though *he* tells me he doesn't care about Father's Day and doesn't particularly want anything, I get him a nice present anyway. Golden Rule, and all that: treat others as you want to be treated.

I was thinking of getting my DH one of those digital picture frames. I don't really like them for at-home use, but it'd be pretty handy for DH to have at work -- he likes to display lots of pictures, and his desk is getting cluttered with frames.

I didn't realize how expensive the digital frames are, though -- the ones I saw at Target were like $200! That's a little extravagent for a Father's Day gift -- our Mother's/Father's Day gifts are usually pretty small.

I've seen them at Bed, Bath & Beyond and at Costco for closer to $100. I can't remember how much it was, but I saw a neat one at Costco yesterday that was three static frames and one digital.

There's BIG differences based on size... like 50% more for 8" than for 7", so poke around.

Hubby is still at Basic training so I am just going to send him 2 cards, one from me and one from the baby... can't really do much else for him!

: Considering after 8 years together he still doesn't "get it" I'm going to stop giving more than I receive. The resentment isn't worth it.

I'm going to be a bit naughty, and spend $100 on the genuine fur felt Indiana Jones fedora. He'll go berserk! I'm just waiting for a chance to sneak into his car, and check the size on his black fedora.
Now I have to remember not to open this thread around him, and swear Alpaca to secrecy! (Harder to do than you might think!)

Having an April baby is handy because the birthstone is diamond. Our first year as parents, he got me a mother's necklace with a diamond for Mother's Day and I got him a tie tack that said "DAD" and had a diamond in it for Father's Day.

In the years since then, we've gradually gotten more and more lazy about the holidays. This year, he gave me a hug and said "Happy Mother's Day" before bed. I'll probably have DD make him a homemade card.

For dh's 1st father's day ever I bought one of those Starbuck's put your own photos in it travel mugs and put in tons of cute pics of him and dd together. In the middle of the "collage" I put Happy 1st Father's Day love your little peanut (dd's nick name). He LOVED it and we even still have it and use it 4 years later.

I didn't get anything for my first mothers' day, but that's because DS was born on it and we were broke. ditto being broke this year. I want to do something nice for him for fathers' day, but I don't know what to do either. Lets hope we can get out of this financial hole by then and maybe I can splurge on something he would really love.
