anyone remember?

mine has smiled a few times but not really socially, and lately she has been more alert and staring at me etc and i'm so looking forward to the smiles and the interaction. anyone know when that starts?

and when do they hold up their heads? lately she has held up her own head for just a few seconds at a time... signs of things to come...

I can't remember exactly, but I do have pictures of my youngest at 2 months on his belly with his head held up, smiling. So at least by then?

5-6 weeks on smiling, though Ina May Gaskin will argue that it can be much sooner.

Not sure on the head.

Seems like after four weeks I have gotten a few smiles here and there, but gets more consistent towards two months.

I got my first real smile last Saturday, at 4 weeks and we've seen a few sporadic ones since then.

Smiling 3 weeks, but very primitive. Don't remember about head.

Well, if you ask Isaac, he'll tell you he can hold his head up right now, at two weeks, thankyouverymuch. Then he'll lose it and i'll have to stop him from slamming his nose on my shoulder.

LOL, that sounds like Declan. Right from birth I have rarely had to be careful with his head. His neck and chest are busting out of his 0-3 month onesies already, they look like ballet leotards, LOL! My poor next kid, they are going to be flopping all over the place cause I'll forget to hold their head for them!

I think the smiling is around 5-6 weeks...my niece was 6 weeks a few weeks ago and she was smiling in the week leading up to it. Declan smiles in his sleep right now and has occasionally smiles if you smile at him, but it's pretty rare. My mom thinks he is going to be very serious like his dad, but I think he's just too young to expect consistency yet ;-)

No lie, DS1 started smiling at 10 days socially. I actually took a photo and used it for his printed birth announcements it's precious!

Mac has been smiling since he was a few days old. At first it was mostly when he was milk drunk, but now he'll smile at me when we're just chatting.

don't remember on the smiles, but Eva (just like her big brother) was holding her own head up at a day old... now at a week and a halff, i don't really worry much at all about it.
