If you had carpal tunnel issues when pg, have the symptoms gone away yet? If so, when did it start to feel better? Was it gradual? I want my fingers back!!

(ddc crashing!!!)

I had it SOOO bad with my first pregnancy, and it got so much worse after delivery. It was directly related to fluid retention, so the faster you can get extra water out the better/faster you'll get better. Short of diuretics, you can eat food that flush out water (watermelon) and look up herbs that are diuretics (but be sure to cross reference them with BF!!).

ouchy!

It's starting to, slowly, at about 36 hours postpartum. I've still got a lot of fluid retention so I'm expecting as I shed that more and more that it will continue to go away. It wasn't immediate, and in fact, after I gave birth I was having MORE numbness in my feet and legs for a little while.

I had it for four weeks post-partum and it did not get any better. I went to see a hand specialist (an orthopedist) who did a "carpal release" procedure. It was very minor and quick. They gave me twilight sleep anesthetic for during the procedure, so it felt like I was asleep, but it is apparently a very mild level of sedation, not true unconsciousness. I was only away from my baby for maybe an hour tops. DH stayed with him in the waiting room and I was able to nurse before and after. I also had pumped a little bit of milk the day before that DH had on hand in case DS got hungry while I was in surgery. The procedure itself was a very tiny incision in my inner wrist (about 1/4") through which the surgeon "released" the muscle that was compressed. I wish I wouldn't have waited 4 weeks to get relief, but we were trying to see if chiropractic would help.

Good luck to you!

It does get better.

I use a b-100 timed release vitamin formula and once the fluids drain off post-baby it does get better. I've been avoiding that surgery for 13+ years now.

i had it with the first and it did go away once i lost some of the bloating. within a week i think. i now have it again and i already have plans of eating a bunch of fruit, veggies and protein once baby arrives.

I had it so bad the last two months of my pregnancy! But as soon as baby came within 24 hours it was gone. So hang in there mama, it will most likely go away once you birth the baby.

(another DDC crasher!)

I had it soooo bad with my first pregnancy and it was gone within 24 hours. Maybe even sooner. I don't have it at all this pregnancy. Good luck to you!
