Probiotics question- Alpaca...

I was following the probiotics thread when my midwife suggested I give them a try with my LO. I bought the Nature's Way l. reuteri and have been using it for about a week, but I don't know how long to continue. Does anyone have any info on this (Alpaca?)? I couldn't find anything on the duration of treatment on the net.

The one study I've seen cited did probiotic supplementation for the first six months of life, and found lasting results at a four-year followup.

nak

ha ha! No-I have no clue! I've been wondering the same thing! We've skipped a day or two lately with no adverse effects that night-unlike when we first started... but i think maybe we'll go 6 mos too.

so you give your LO l. reuteri also? Do you do it with your finger?

lurker...

I mix it with a bit of breastmilk, make a thin paste and give it to my son on a teeny spoon.

I don't think you'd necessarily need to stop giving it to your child, probably could give it indefinitely.

Alpaca, do you still have the link for getting the l. reuteri at a good price? We're about out of our acidophilus, and I wanted to get the reuteri instead. I tried to search for your old thread, but the search function isn't working.

We do both bifido and rueteri and actually use the container part of the syringe to administer it-we don't bother with the plunger anymore-just place our finger over the back opening till its in her mouth and then let her suck it out. here's that link:

Glad it's of use- feels nice to be helpful!
