I think the body
bennefits to ballet outweigh the injuries. Ballet requires tramendous flexibility and strength. It is an AUSOME workout.
I was in ballet for years, and even on toe for years. My feet are fine. My toes are fine. I used to get torn tendons in my ankles quite a bit, but I would argue now that it wasn't entirely from ballet. But the benefits to my body from all forms of dance, and especially ballet are greatly missed now. Also, if other forms of dance are of interest, most teachers would recomend ballet as well since the strength, flexibility, and technique transfer across the board. It is the foundation to all forms of dance.
I don't doubt that some studios are big on compitition, and students might feel pressure in thier body image and performances. But that isn't a negetive againts ballet, just againts sertain studios. And is a testimate to why there should be some research before chosing a studio.
