What a great story. I'm so happy when things turn out well and it seems like several teenagers are going to get a good lesson of BFing. Yippe!!

Wonderful news! Great job mama on seeing this through. Makes me think there is hope for this world yet

And yet again I have to say - Lissa - YOU ROCK!

Wow! Good job! You handled everything wonderfully. I would have been very upset to have someone yelling profanity at me like that, and might not have handled it as well as you.

Wow, good for you! I can't believe how pro-active the school is being about it. As for the Zoo, they have always been very breastfeeding friendly. Here are some pics of me nursing my daughter at the Toronto Zoo in summer 2004!

Way to go!!!

wow!!! what a turn out! I wish ALL schools could have a LLL group as part of the curriculum, at least once a year... I wonder if we could encourage LLL to offer it to any public and/or private school, you know, like having it available in their website and promote it... hmmm that will be a great idea...

Lissa, you are in inspiration! You took a negative experience and turned it into an educational opportunity. You deserve a standing ovation!

So guys, feel free to throw me any ideas for things to put in the letter. I have a rough draft, but would like to hear other people's ideas too.
May we see your draft, and throw in ideas from there?

Wait - is this a letter to the school or the zoo?

I love stories like this.

When I saw the title I was already getting angry, thinking that if a ZOO where animals reproduce and feed was not supportive of BF, then there was no hope left in the world...

I agree with PP about LLL education in schools. There is a group here in mtl that provides sex ed for high schools since it has been removed from the curriculum. I think that BFing and other things like that should be taught as young and often as possible. So much of the negative views about it are born out of ignorance. I have pretty lazy about getting involved in my local LLL and other similar resources, but I just might try and get started on this. I know some people who volunteer for the sex ed program, perhaps I should contact them and volunteer a BFing section to their workshops...

This experience has turned out awesome!

The zoo emailed me a reply. I didn't expect that. They seem to be a really good zoo. I wish I lived closer than Utah/Arizona to them. They're worth going to.
