Knit chemo cap?

I'm shopping for soft knit funky hats for a friend who is about to start chemo & just finished intense radiation. She already is hairless & her head is super sore from the radiation (brain & lung cancer, radiation directly to her head which is wreaking havoc on her skin, eyes, ears, & hopefully the tumors as well) She's in her 40's, a health & fitness nut with an amazing sense of humor. I'd like something cool & slightly unusual. If anyone has a favorite store or knitter they'd like to recomend, spam me at
thecolorroom at verizon dot net or post it here. I'm open to other ideas and due to my loss of 2 people to cancer in the last 18 months one of which was my mom, I'm short on creativity. Thanks mamas.

Have you looked at etsy? I like the look of these fabric ones and these crochet ones. I suggest the fabric ones mainly because I wonder if it might be more comfortable in the heat?
Big hugs to you, mama. Ten years ago today, my father finished his course of radiation therapy, and it was so hard on him. I'm praying for your friend.

May I suggest a slightly stretchy, not too tight, bamboo fabric or knit cap? Bamboo is super soft, as absorbent as cotton (usually more so), and quite cool (good for summer.) My mom was bald for the last 3 years of her life, and she hated wigs. She loved soft caps, though she frequently just went bald.

Thanks for the links & ideas. I loved the bamboo yarn I bought last - a nice weight &feel for the hottest muggiest FL weather

Another thing for her to be super careful about is sun exposure. Unless it's a very dense fabric, she needs to wear sunblock. With a less dense fabric cap, or a knit one, she could get sunburn on that poor abused skin very easily.
