Awesome. We're looking at buying a clothesline. Last night we bought a retractable one that goes across the garage, so I have our underthings drying on that and the rest on a drying rack on the deck. Can't wait to have a real clothesline, though!

Nice. We had that as kids. Now I live in an apartment and I swear we get looked at like we have 2 heads when we dry our clothes on the balcony. Which is weird. Living in europe it was normal. As is putting our bedclothes on the window every morning to air out. Here it is a bit "strange".
Just wanted to say nothing nicer than fresh smelling clothes.

I just put up a clothes line yesterday. I hung my first load out to dry and within 10 minutes it started to rain and has rained ever since.

I had to wait a few days before got to use my line because it rained for seemed like an eternity!! LOL!! But it was definitely worth the wait! I think if clothes are left on the line while it rains, when the do dry they smell even better!!

We've got a newfound clothesline love in our family too. Congrats!

Woohoo! I'm jealous. We have a retractable semi-permanently attached in the yard, but I've been after my husband for a couple of years to make me a real clothesline that will hold a full load of laundry. Some day....

We live in an apartment block that has been built way before tumble dryers were even thought of. It has a drying green at the back (shared by 6 apartments in our "close") and a clothes pulley in the kitchen. The ceilings are 12ft high so you can't even see the clothes when they are there. This year I made up my mind to only use dryer in emergency and to fluff up the diapers for 10min and it has been great we lived in this place for almost 8 years now, why didn't I do it earlier???!!!!!
OOOOhhhh the outside dried clothes and especially bedclothes smell just divine!

Enjoy your line

I think the bed clothes idea makes sense to me...Kind of a neat way to have freshness every night, not just laundry night!!

So sad...My clothesline broke yesterday it was attached to the house but I guess not well enough to hold up to a bunch of shirts. I was hanging the last item to the line yesterday and all of the sudden the hook and wheel came flying out of the wall. Scared the pop out of me. I had to go and take everything off the line as it sat in the grass. Thank goodness it will get fixed tonight. I miss it already and still have wet clothes waiting to be hung!!

Oh no! I bet that was scary. Hope you can get it fixed soon. We have all the parts/pieces for assembling our new clothesline. Hopefully DH will do be able to do it tomorrow. It's suppose to be sunny and nice for the rest of the week, and I'm dying to dry clothes outside!

We just got ours up a few days ago too! My only complaint is crunchy towels!! Any suggestions?
Re: crunchy towels. You can toss them in the dryer on "fluff" or no heat for 10 minutes or so. Or you can use them crunchy and in a week or 2 you won't even notice it! Sometimes giving them a good shake before you fold them can take the crispiness out. ANd after you use them once, they soften up (assuming you use them a few times between washings)

Crunchy towels: exactly, shake them out, they soften up after using them once.
OR if you really, really, really want to you...can iron them. That softens them up...but it's the same effect as just using them once or shaking them.

Yeah it was quite a scare as it made such a loud noise and I scare easily...LOL!! I am hoping my Mom's BF will have a chance to fix it after work today. The one end is still attached to the tree so I just tied the other end to my patio for now, so I can use it in the mean time.

I love my crunchy towels!! I have always had a clothesline, but just last year we moved it to a new location, and I love it even more. It gets full sun, and no bird poop.

I haven't noticed my towels being overly crunchy, but have noticed a drop of bird poop. When I brought my clothes in the other day, my sweater had a bit of bird poop on the back. I guess that's just the way it is with a tree hanging over part of your line.
