okay so due in 2 days...I was doing SO well waiting and then like 5 days ago was up all night with contractions (after trying intimacy) ---ALL night! well so I get to my appointment with MW on wed and I had not dialated AT ALL (more than the 1 I was or 70% efaced!) ---SO what I want to know...my hubby wants to come home and drive me over bumps..and go get spicy food, etc. etc. etc...but really when it comes down to it...

is it worth it if the contraction I am going to get don't help and are "practice" but not taking me anywhere?

what's your opinion? if this little girl is ready to come---do those things just help push her to come---or would she have come anyway?

ALSO- please share all ideas to get things going....

i am due in 5 days (WOW!) and i am getting pretty desparate... i have heard really good things about acupressure and acupuncture and i think i am going to try them... both... it could only help- my doula even recommended having dh rub my feet.
i have tried walking around a lot (though not today) i went walking around the mall the other day and i hadn't dome that in ages... the baby has dropped so low that it hurts to walk a lot... that didn't seem to help...

I'm probably not the best person to ask. I firmly believe that trying to kick a baby out before they are ready without some sort of medical need is a bad idea. Believe me, I understand late pregnancy misery!!!! But I'm so glad my kiddos waited until 39 weeks to come. Can you imagine if I'd gone the OB route and had them by c-section at 36 weeks? That would have been 3 weeks early!!! If you're going to carry to 42 weeks because that's what your baby needs then having her now would be 2 weeks too soon. Not that I think having sex or eating spicy foods are really "induction methods" that work, so I think you are safe there. I don't like encouraging prodromal labor because it's exhausting and doesn't lead to the baby. If it were me (and it was for WEEKS) then I'd have a hot bath and a half glass of wine and try to sleep.

Not in your DDC, but was in the same place a year ago this weekend.

All contractions are getting you somehwere, maybe just not as quickly as you'd like . But I'm a firm believer that a little lovin' can't hurt (especially if you get your cookies, though even if you don't the prostaglandins in semen might help).

A lot of patience, though I know it's hard.

Send me some of your Zen Angela! I've been doing well (not overdue but trying to beat the clock) and I've been doing really well so far. Today hasn't been so good. I'm not tempted to try anything other than those "pressure points" but I'm ready for him to be here.

<passes zen> I highly recommend getting out of the house and keeping busy. Today was as zen as I've been in a long time...

There is much wisdom in waiting when you have not even reached your EDD yet, If, however, you get passed that time and getting things going is better than the other options on the table, I keep this list on hand for clients.

RRL Tea
visualizations
pineapple
cumin tea
spicy food
eggplant
journaling
good cry (sad movie?)
walk
bumpy car ride
bounce on yoga ball
other physical activity
evening primrose oil
sex
orgasm (doesn't have to be intercourse)
skin to skin contact
prenatal massage
chiropractic treatment
a ton of stairs
nipple stimulation
enema
Reflexology
acupressure
acupuncture
herbs - blue/black cohosh
homeopathy - caulopyllum and cimicifuga
castor oil

thanks---I know I just need to be patient. I've decided not to be one to go and try everything (though of course I hear a new idea from someone EVERY DAY or hour!) ---I just don't have the energy to be honest.

We finally got our car fixed so I have a car next week so I just plan to get out a lot and fill my schedule! I'm trying so hard not to get too anxious--but the minutes seem like hours in a clean home- with a happy son and not much to do!

thanks everyone!
