Who delivered a big baby at home??? - Page 3

I just had a 10 lb 4 oz unassisted delivery at home on 1/19. I did end up tearing but think it could have been prevented had I slowed down my pushing or been paying closer attention to my perineum.

I had a 10'4 oz baby at home 2 years ago. I did have the complication of shoulder dystocia but it had more to do with poor planning and lack of communication than anything. It was still a great birth and Im so grateful to have been at home for it. I am due any day now with number 4 and the midwives are really apprehensive about having another big baby so they are going to strip my membranes this friday to get my labour going if my cervix is ready.

My tiny friend (5'2" about 100lb. when not pregnant) had an 11lb. baby at home. Unfortunately, she had a very hard delivery - he got stuck with just his head out for several minutes, for one thing. Everything turned out fine in the end though. Her midwife was able to help her deliver him safely, although she did tear. She says she is very, very, very glad she had him at home, because she knows that there would've been some crazy interventions at the hospital.

Wanted to add my .02. I have 3 sons--only the youngest was born at home, but he was my largest baby. He weighed in at 9#14oz. and I didn't have any tearing even though I did have a past episiotomy scar. In fact at this time last year, labor was starting to pick up speed...can't believe he's one already

I just gave birth at home on December 29th. My daughter was 9 Lbs 6 0z. Sje was 20 1/2 inches long with a 14 inch head and a 14 1/2 inch chest. There were no complications. My birth story is posted in this forum.
